Social Worker

The Childcare Social Worker determines eligibility under a wide range of criteria; provides childcare consultation to social workers and supervisors in other units; tracks provider rate changes; performs on-site visits with childcare providers to monitor compliance and problem-solving; and provides technical assistance to child providers. This position has liaison responsibilities with the local Partnership for Children and private/non-profit providers of childcare.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Eligibility determination (Intake & Review) – The Social Worker will verify the information to correctly determine eligibility for prospective clients at initial application, ongoing recipients during redetermination of eligibility, and when processing changes.
• Case Management – The Social Worker will explain, plan, and direct the provision of services within the constraints of policies and procedures to the individual(s) applying and/or receiving the service.
• Community Liaison/Coordination – The Social Worker serves as a consultant on childcare with community partners and confers with state licensing consultants when problems arise.
• Additional Responsibilities – Social Worker completes administrative duties associated with the job, including daily completion of the day sheets, submission of timesheets, monitoring of budget program expenditures, timely and accurate documentation across multiple systems, and other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Working knowledge of basic social work principles, techniques, and practices and their application to specific casework, group work, and community problems.
• Knowledge of governmental and private organizations and resources in the community.
• Some knowledge of behavioral and socioeconomic problems and treatment.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrative supervisors, with members of caseload and their families, and with care providers and various community organizations.
• Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely.
• Ability to plan and execute work.

Required Minimum Training/Education

Bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution; bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one (1) year of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience monitoring budget expenditures.
• Knowledge of NC FAST.
• Two (2) years working with children and families.

Pay: $39,000.00 - $59,000.00 per year
