This is a Department Promotional Examination and is open to eligible employees of the Kern County Sheriff's Office who have successfully completed their initial probationary period and received an overall rating of standard or better on the last employee performance report.
EXAMINATION SCHEDULE:-
Written Exam: June 4, 2024

Oral Exam: will be conducted the week of June 24, 2024
Examinations:
Written Exam (Weight 40%): May include knowledge of: basic principles of supervision; rules of evidence and of the laws governing persons in custody; criminal law, investigation and crime prevention methods; interviewing techniques; report writing and other relevant subjects.
Oral Exam (Weight 60%): Will be conducted for the purpose of appraising training, experience, interest and personal fitness for the position.
***If the number of applicants successful on the written exam is insufficient to merit an oral exam, the written exam shall be weighted 100%.
Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process.
Examination components for promotional testing will be administered during the scheduled date(s)/time(s)/location without exception.

Minimum Qualifications / Employment Standards
Two (2) years of experience as a Kern County Senior Deputy AND possession of an Intermediate Certificate awarded by the Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission for the State of California.

Following an offer of employment, you may be required to submit to post offer medical and drug screening tests at County expense.
This examination will establish a 12-month eligible list from which appointments will be made at the Kern County Sheriff's Office as needed.
