What are the responsibilities and job description for the Airport Operations Worker position at COUNTY OF ORANGE?
Role Overview
Performs intermediate semi-skilled and clerical work fueling, testing fuel, maintaining facility and grounds, managing accounts, assisting customers and related work as required. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Airport Operations Manager.
This position will support the Airport primarily on weekends, however there will be some weekday hours required**
Role Description
- Fuels airplanes; checks fuel farm and ensures aviation fuel quality; maintains fuel sales records.
- Maintains airport grounds and airport facilities cleanliness including landscaping, mowing grass, snow removal and ice control, and collecting and disposing of trash and recyclables.
- Manages monetary accounts for airport services including invoicing and collecting money for services.
- Assists customers; answers the phones; provides airport advisories.
- Conducts radio communications with aircraft.
- Performs related tasks as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
General knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions associated with the work; general knowledge of the common practices, tools and terminology used in repairing and maintaining buildings; skill in the use of tools and equipment; ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED with training as indicated below in the Special Requirements section or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
- Airplane Fueling and Fuel Type Recognition training.
- Aviation fuel testing training.
- Airport/Aircraft/Fuel safety training.
- Radio communication training.
- Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
