What are the responsibilities and job description for the Appeals Specialist position at County of Riverside?

The Department of Public Social Services (DPSS), is hiring an Appeals Specialist who will be assigned to the Administrative Hearings Division, located in Riverside. The Appeals Specialist will represent County of Riverside Department of Public Social Services in administrative hearings held before a state appointed Administrative Law Judge. The incumbent will be responsible for investigating appeals and complaints for the purpose of resolving problems, preparing for appeal hearings and/or gaining the claimant’s acceptance of the findings. Additionally, they will travel to different locations throughout Riverside County as needed by the department.

The most competitive candidates will have experience in communicating with all levels of personnel between departments and agencies, investigating complaints and researching problems, interviewing, and obtaining information from individuals; the ability to write reports, narratives, or articles; and working knowledge across multiple Self-Sufficiency programs. Candidates with working experience in eligibility for social services programs are highly desired.
