The County of Riverside’s Flood Control and Water Conservation District has an opportunity for an Engineering Technician - Level II, to work with the Developer Services Division.
The Developer Services Division seeks candidates with experience working at a project construction site and in an office environment. Proven experience will allow candidates to act as a liaison between construction and Engineering employees, ensuring all workers on the job are aware of the needs, constraints and deadlines of multiple on-going projects.
The Engineering Technician - Level II will provide development services to the Riverside County land development community. The incumbent will assist project engineers and inspection staff on a variety of office and field tasks; utilize spatial analysis in ArcGIS, Google Earth and/or AutoCAD to prepare detailed maps and exhibits; review and comment on improvement plans prepared by engineering firms; perform engineering calculations; assist in field investigations and/or inspections; review legal descriptions, easements and right-of-way maps; consult with office surveyors in the checking and preparation of records of surveys, maps and plans.

Candidates will also read and interpret legal descriptions, engineering drawings, survey notes and tract descriptions and understand how they relate to the Flood Control District and County standards and ordinances; assist in the preparation of design plan specifications and cost estimates; interact with department personnel at all levels and members of the public to facilitate the collection of data and its entry into computer systems for reports and/or computer aided mapping.
In addition, strong knowledge of mathematics, including the principles of algebra and geometry as applied in subprofessional engineering work and a high proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) and Bluebeam.
Highly competitive candidates will have public works agency inspections experience, completed training courses in: Aggregate Base; Concrete Laboratory Testing; Concrete Strength Testing and Confined Space, Trench and Excavation. And, hold certifications in: Hazmat and Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade I.

Experience: Three years of sub-professional civil engineering experience. (Completion of college level courses from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or closely related subjects to the assignment such as land surveying, soils erosion, soils testing, blueprint reading, mathematics, computer graphics, or hydrology may substitute for up to two years of the required experience on the basis of 12 semester or 18 quarter units equaling one year of the required full-time experience.)
OPTION II
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in surveying engineering or civil engineering.
OPTION III
Experience: Three years of sub-professional civil engineering experience. (A valid Certificate of Registration as an Engineer-in-Training or Surveyor-in-Training issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers may substitute for two years of the required sub-professional engineering experience.)

Possession of a valid California Driver’s License is required to work in-field, as needed.
Knowledge Of
Mathematics including algebra, geometry and trigonometry; the basic practices of engineering design and construction, traffic control and land surveying; manual and automated drafting techniques; field and office procedures relating to hydrography; procedures related to construction inspection.Application Deadline
