The Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) is currently accepting applications for Behavioral Health Program Managers I*. Program Managers I are responsible for managing a key program component and assisting in planning and organizing a comprehensive behavioral health program; preparing, monitoring and enforcing contracts with behavioral health service providers; and providing clinical and/or administrative supervision. Managers are responsible for the oversight of field-based staff. The list established from this recruitment will be used to fill vacancies as they occur.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Background Check: Prior to appointment, applicants must pass a background investigation, which includes fingerprinting, credit check, and/or medical exam, which may include drug and/or TB testing. Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen or a permanent U.S. resident. 

Travel: Travel throughout the County may be required depending on assignment. Employees will be required to make provision for transportation (mileage reimbursement is available at current IRS rates). A valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced and maintained for the individual providing the transportation. 

License: For some positions, licensure as a Marriage Family Therapist, Clinical Social Worker, Professional Clinical Counselor, or Psychologist may be required. Positions in Adult Criminal Justice require licensure as a Marriage Family Therapist, Clinical Social Worker, Professional Clinical Counselor, or Psychologist. Applicants must indicate licensure and availability to work in Adult Criminal Justice on the supplemental questionnaire to be considered. Other programs may also require licensure as needed. 

Education: A Master's or Doctoral degree from an accredited institution in behavioral science, human services, social work, counseling, psychology, public health administration, business/public administration, hospital administration, or closely related field of study. Must have CA state licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Clinical Psychologist or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor.

Experience: Two (2) years of professional-level administrative, clinical, and/or supervisory experience, which includes responsibility in one or more of the following areas: development of programs, policies and procedures; compliance/quality management; data/legislative analysis; monitoring contracts; or budget/fiscal administration. Clerical and/or routine accounting experience is not considered qualifying.

Applicants fluent in American Sign Language, Arabic, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish, Tagalog, and/or Vietnamese are strongly encouraged to apply. Additional compensation is associated with positions requiring the use of bilingual skills. Testing of bilingual skills may be required to receive additional compensation.
