Poll Worker Applications are now being accepted for Technical Inspector positions!
The Registrar of Voters is currently recruiting applicants to fill nearly 2,500 volunteer Poll Worker positions for the March 5, 2024, Presidential Primary Election. Registered voters and legal permanent residents, as well as bilingual poll workers are invited to apply. Poll workers will receive a daily stipend for each day of service at a vote center, including on Election Day during when polls are open for extended hours. Attendance at a 2-day paid in-person training also is required.

Skills needed to be a Poll Worker
(No previous Poll Worker experience necessary):
- Ability to work well within a diverse team
- Ability to understand important details and accurately follow procedures. Provide excellent customer service to a diverse population
- Willingness to follow instructions
- Demonstrate flexibility and positive attitude
- Communicate effectively with staff, public, and management
- Ability to handle and resolve difficult situations in a positive manner
Poll Workers Must:
- Be a U.S. citizen and registered to vote in California or lawfully admitted for permanent residence in the United States
- Be at least 18 years old
- Speak, read, and write English
- Complete 2-day paid training PLUS work 6-13 days prior to Election Day, including weekends
- Have reliable transportation to and from your assigned voting location each day
Poll Worker Responsibilities:
- Complete mandatory training
- Assist in the set-up, close and clean-up of the voting location prior to and on Election Day
- Serve voters at a voting location; nine-hour days Saturday, Sunday, and weekdays before the Election, and 6:00 am to 10 pm on Election Day
- Understand concepts, election procedures, and equipment to accurately assist voters. Communicate effectively with public, staff, and management
- Provide excellent service to a diverse voter population
- Work as a collective team to perform other duties as assigned to ensure all voters and visitors have a positive voting experience
- Handle and resolve difficult situations in a positive manner using good judgement and accuracy
