Suffolk County Law Department is currently seeking candidates for the position of Courier. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: On a daily basis, is responsible for the service of subpoenas along with checks, to persons involved in cases being handled by our Family Court Bureau. Each day delivers mail and records to our Central Islip and Riverhead offices, and to other county agencies. Serves legal documents in court in New York City and also delivers other legal documents and records to law firms in Suffolk County and Nassau County. Responsible for operating and maintaining assigned county vehicle and also helps to maintain other county vehicles assigned to the department. As needed, performs clerical tasks such as photocopying, archiving and answering phones. May transport high priority checks, certificates, and mail to and from Law Department Bureaus, other County departments, and outside agencies. TARGET SALARY: $34,530 NON-COMPETITIVE: NO EXAM REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from a standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and either: Two (2) years of driving experience as a messenger, courier, or other paid driver responsible for the transport of passengers or materials; or, Two (2) years of experience as a Driver Messenger.
