The Equitable Housing and Community Development (EHCD) division operates the development and revitalization services eligible to the million residents of the County, in coordination with twelve municipalities. It also ensures much of the administration and compliance for Federal grant and locally funded programs focused on neighborhood revitalization, rehabilitation, development and public infrastructure projects benefiting low and moderate-income households.
Wake
County is recruiting for a Community
Engagement Coordinator to lead our efforts to facilitate innovative
community partnerships and promote equitable community engagement. This position will engage
in in-depth, interactive and collaborative communication with the community
and community partners, in addition to providing residents with information on
housing services.
This position will play an important “bridging” role necessary to
close the cultural, relational, racial, language and socio-economic divides
that often exist between public and private institutions and low-income
communities and communities of color to help develop consistent relationships
in the community, connect residents to resources, and surface key community
concerns.

About Our Team
Wake County Department of Housing Affordability and Community Revitalization’s goal is to ensure that quality affordable housing is available for all Wake County residents. As the population and economy continue to grow in Wake County, the need for affordable housing development and preservation increases. Not only do more units of affordable housing need to be built, but housing services must also be provided to support families and individuals to access or maintain safe, decent, affordable housing. Affordable housing is also critical to preserving Wake County’s economic competitiveness by offering housing for workers at all income levels, supporting housing stability and economic opportunity for its residents, and furthering Wake County’s commitment to healthy and inclusive growth. The Department’s programs include: Community Revitalization, Development Financing, Rental Assistance, Homeless Services, Community Outreach, Emergency Shelter, and Permanent Supportive Housing.
The Basics (Required Education and Experience)
- Bachelors Degree in Marketing, Advertising or Related Field
- Or three years of Industry Experience
Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)
- Bachelors in Marketing, Advertising, or Related Field
- Knowledge of Affordable Housing
- Network of Contacts in the Community
- Five Years of Equivalent Industry Experience
- Experience Public Speaking

Work Schedule: Mon - Fri 8:30 am - 5:15 pm, will include some evenings and possibly weekends
Hiring Range: $52,385 - $70,721
