Job Purpose
The Municipal Manager oversees business development, existing account management, collection, routes, equipment, inventory, and compliance with DOT regulations. The primary goal for this role is to effectively manage and oversee current municipal accounts, as well as develop and foster partnerships with other municipalities.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Municipal Manager is a hands-on leadership role. This role requires strong leadership abilities, a deep understanding of business development, knowledge of DOT regulations, exceptional customer service and problem-solving skills. The Municipal Manager plays a vital role in maintaining the efficiency and profitability of the CWS municipal line of business.
Duties include but are not limited to:
· Leadership and Strategy:
o Provide strategic direction and leadership to the municipal team, ensuring alignment with the company's core values, goals and objectives.
o Foster a culture of safety, excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement throughout the line of business.
o Develop and implement efficient route strategies and procedures to optimize performance, employee development, and maximize profitability.
o Oversee municipal drivers, delivery drivers, and customer service representatives.
· Business Development:
o Maintain positive partnership with current municipalities.
o Establish relationships with municipalities in targeted areas for expansion.
o Prepare and deliver comprehensive presentations to city councils and other officials.
o Monitor performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions to enhance efficiency and productivity.
o Collaborate with Residential Director concerning needs for additional asset or personnel needs.
o Prepare and deliver comprehensive presentations to city councils and other officials.
· Contract Management:
o Prepare and review municipal contracts.
o Provide knowledge and understanding of government bid policies and procedures.
· Financial Analysis and Planning:
o Collaborate with the Residential Director to develop and manage operational budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
o Analyze financial data and operational metrics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for cost optimization.
o Ensure compliance with financial policies, regulations, and reporting requirements.
o Develop financial models to increase visibility in new market spaces.
Qualifications
Qualifications include:
· Minimum 5 years business development or sales experience.
· Preferred bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
· Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities.
· Demonstrable competency in customer relations
· Exceptional decision-making and problem-solving skills
· Strong moral and ethical principles
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Knowledge of statutes, rules and regulations pertaining to company business
· Proficient understanding of business sensitivities and confidentiality
· Ability to represent CWS in a professional and engaging manner.
Working Conditions
The Municipal Manager may work in various conditions and can be exposed to extreme heat, cold, humidity, precipitation, dusty conditions, mechanical parts, electrical hazards, hazardous chemicals, and noxious fumes and odors in both indoor and outdoor environments. Travel and working in various locations may be required occasionally.
Direct Reports
This position oversees the municipal drivers, delivery drivers, and customer service representatives.
