Director of Fund Development
Established in 1963, family members spent countless hours building a safe and accessible camp for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Courageous Community Services’ mission is to provide meaningful, inclusive opportunities for individuals with disabilities and their families through advocacy, education, and engaging recreational experiences.
Courageous Community Services (CCS) is a 501(C) (3) nonprofit agency that provides the following services for individuals with disabilities, and their families, in Northwest Ohio:
- Educational and skill-based programs embedded into the camp program
- Advocacy training and services
- Family support
- Social opportunities
- Camping/recreational programs for individuals with disabilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for fostering and strengthening Courageous Community Services’ relationships with individual donors, corporations, foundations, and other sources.
Responsibilities include:
- Under the leadership of the Board of Directors and in consultation with the Executive Director, develop an annual fundraising and donor relations strategy.
- Leads all donor cultivation, solicitation, and recognition efforts, including management of donor database, submission of monthly activity reports, and updates related to major donor strategies.
- Execute fundraising strategies and initiatives.
- Research historical, current, and new donors to identify potential sources of major gifts, planned giving, and other gifts.
- Identify, cultivate, and solicit individuals and corporations to increase donor giving and grow revenue.
- Manages and coordinates meetings between the Executive Director, board members, and potential donors.
- Develops systems to train the board and encourage involvement in annual fund solicitation, personal giving, and donor recognition.
- Creates an external communications plan and fundraising materials, including a formal case for support. Creates a more effective and efficient system for sharing information such as impacts and financial/outcome data.
- Develops and implements major capital and endowment campaigns.
- Maintain a portfolio of qualified prospective donors.
- Develop, manage, and execute fundraisers and donor recognition events, including a budget, sponsorship, logistics, and marketing.
Marketing and Public Relations: Supporting role through coordinating public outreach efforts, digital and print marketing
- Develops and builds healthy and productive relationships with all internal & external stakeholders and departments, including staff, board members, and volunteers. Works with leadership to grow an internal culture and commitment to philanthropy. External stakeholders include clients, community partners, and donors; the successful candidate ensures donors are not being over-solicited and communications are consistent.
- Cultivates, solicits, and provides stewardship for a portfolio of major gift prospects.
- Provides oversight and develops new initiatives representing Courageous Community Services with community-based committees and initiatives, business and industry organizations, and facilitates internal and external communication.
Minimum Requirements:
- One (1) year previous non-profit fundraising experience (not events) required.
- Previous experience using donor database software preferred.
- Budget management.
- Demonstrated project management and time management skills required.
- Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Strong written, presentation, verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent customer service and follow-through.
- Skilled in effective communication: communicates effectively and demonstrates sensitively with consumers, staff, other agencies, partners, and the public; demonstrable experience in effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to recruit and work with top-level corporate and community leaders and to lead and motivate staff teams.
- Possesses the skills to be deadline-oriented with demonstrated organizational skills.
- Able to interface with corporate boards and professional staff.
- Possess demonstrable skills in cultivating, soliciting, and closing major gifts and working with volunteers.
Pay Details:
Pay periods will be bi-weekly. Starting pay is $75k annually, increasing with relevant experience.
