Auxiliary Operator

Position Description; The Auxiliary Operator will work under the supervision of the Shift Supervisor and the direction of the Control Room Operator. They will be responsible for the operation and inspection of various systems and equipment as assigned. Daily housekeeping chores, training and safety compliance are required. Normally, their assigned areas will include the boilers and associated systems such as fans, grates, ash and air pollution control systems, the demineralizer, and the testing of water chemistry. In addition, the Auxiliary Operator will perform the duties of crane operator. The duties of the Auxiliary Operator include the safe and efficient operation of their assigned equipment in accordance with the established plant operating procedures. They are responsible for recording data, reporting equipment malfunctions or trends, which indicate possible trouble, and performing actions as directed to correct abnormal operating conditions or emergency situations. Other responsibilities include, diligent use of personal protection equipment, good communication skills (written and verbal) and good analytical abilities. Using an “Operator’s Eye”, develop one visual management improvement per month and diligent use of the Safety Observation System in Process Map. This position is labor intensive and will frequently require manual labor, heavy lifting and intensive clean-up efforts. Position Requirements; The position of Auxiliary Operator requires one-year previous experience with high pressure boilers and electric generating equipment. A high school diploma/GED.
