Then come work at the only Waste-To-Energy (WTE) plant in the country with a Selective Catalytic Reduction system (SCR). This facility has the strictest and lowest emission permits of any power plant in the country. As an Auxiliary Operator you will be responsible for the safe, environmentally sound, and efficient operation of the APC (Air Pollution Control) equipment including but not limited to Spray Dry Absorber (SDA) scrubber, fabric filter, lime slakers, atomizers, ammonia (SCR) system, and Powdered Activated Carbon (PAC) injection systems. In the first three months you will: Achieve OSHA 10 certification, have a solid understanding on WTE plant operations from air pollution control perspective. After six month you will: Operate and maintain air pollution control systems, cross train for other positions within the plant. In a year you will: Complete operator qualification package (OQP) within 12 months of hire. Responsibilities: Performs daily routine inspections of assigned equipment and fills out necessary log sheets according to procedures. Performs troubleshooting on equipment and reports all malfunctioning equipment through the issuance of work orders. Performs checks as required by the weekly activities book, the monthly critical items check list, etc. Performs lockout and tag-out of equipment in support of maintenance activities. Maintains a clean and orderly work area. Must be able to perform general math calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Performs additional tasks as directed by the Shift Supervisor, or his or her designee. Qualifications: HS Diploma required, Engineering or Power Plant associate degree preferred 4 years’ experience in a power plant. Must have a sound knowledge and clear understanding of the mechanical characteristics of the equipment and must have demonstrated the ability to apply this knowledge in both routine and non-routine operations. Must understand the principles of operation, function and construction of ash handling equipment, scrubbers, fabric filters, NOX and mercury control systems.
