Covenant HealthCare is a licensed 650-bed, Level II Trauma, healthcare facility. The program offers opportunities for students to engage their pastoral care and education in clinical areas such as cardiology, medical/surgical, rehabilitation, geriatrics, pediatrics, neonatal intensive care, birth center, oncology, dialysis, palliative care, and hospice.
This is an extraordinary opportunity for spiritual leaders, pastors, ministers, clergy to gain a greater understanding of the spiritual needs of people and how to effectively meet those needs through this transformative learning opportunity.
It offers further spiritual formation integration, greater awareness of self/others, a deeper understanding/ability to navigate relational dynamics, effective spiritual assessment/intervention training and further development as a professional.
CPE students serve as chaplains while learning from their ministry experiences in a wide variety of clinical areas. By utilizing the clinical methods of learning, participants engage in direct pastoral/spiritual care with patients, families/loved ones, and staff. Students learn by reflecting on their experiences and applying what they learn in their ongoing ministry.
Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) at Covenant Healthcare is a four-unit CPE program, with intentional preparation toward professional chaplain certification. A ministry program of professional education designed for clergy, faith group leaders, pastors, seminary/theological students, prospective chaplains, and committed lay people to develop their competence and effectiveness in providing pastoral/spiritual care. It also provides an opportunity to clarify and enhance one's personal pastoral identity.
Located in Saginaw, Michigan, near Midland and Bay City. The Tri-Cities offer a variety of cultural and recreational opportunities, including water sports, theaters, museums, art galleries, symphony orchestras, festivals, and fairs. Prerequisites: Master of Divinity degree or equivalent
