Summary:
The MRI Technologist demonstrates excellent customer service performance in that his/her attitude and actions are at all times consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of Covenant HealthCare and the commitment to Extraordinary Care for Every Generation. This individual, under limited supervision, operates Magnetic Resonance Imaging equipment to produce and film scans of anatomical structures for diagnostic interpretation by a Radiologist.
Responsibilities:
Contributes to organization success targets for net operating margin.

Has clinical contact with patients in all age groups (neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric) and is able to appropriately assess, care for and treat them according to the age appropriate care guidelines as defined by Covenant HealthCare.
Prepares patient for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
Selects proper technical factors and operates equipment and accessories as directed.
Positions patient and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort.
Assesses, plans, provides intervention and evaluates care for each patient based on their ages to avoid unnecessary radiation exposure.
Obtains and verifies patient’s clinical history, ensuring that information is documented and readily available to the interpreting physician in an accurate and timely manner.
Prepares and administers contrast media per department protocol.
Performs MRI scans on patients following established department protocol/procedure.
Evaluates images and data for technical quality, manipulates display parameters assuring proper identification is evident.
Determines necessity for further imaging based on gross findings; initiates additional scans as required for final interpretation by Radiologists.
Performs a variety of post processing applications on MRI data sets.
Uses RIS (radiology information system) to update scheduling and billing records.
Maintains flexibility to ensure department workload consistency.
Demonstrates knowledge of MR safety, hospital safety and infection control policies and procedures, maintaining a safe and clean environment.
Maintains the professional competence, knowledge, and skills necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
Completes required continuous training and education, including department specific requirements.
Preserves patients' privacy and maintains confidentiality of patients' information.
Ensures that services are provided in accordance with state and Federal regulations, organizational policy, and accreditation / compliance requirements.
Anticipates customer needs and provides services to all customers, including patients, physicians, hospital departments, and staff.
Coordinates requests for services, information, records, and data on a timely basis.
Researches and resolves problems.
Ensures that patients, their families, visitors, and employees are treated with kindness and respect.
Demonstrates teamwork and integrity in all work-related activities.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships within the organization.
Attends mandatory internal and external meetings and in-services as required.
Maintains proficiency in all computer functionally necessary to perform job duties (RIS, PACS, QC, email, etc.)

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Currently Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
Documented evidence of education based on observation, hands on experience, and/or didactic instruction.
Preferred: Previous MRI experience
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Well versed in anatomy, cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, medical terminology.
Documented evidence of education based on observation, hands-on experience, and/or didactic instruction with MRI scanners and workstations
Possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), and a proven ability to work effectively with a diverse audience.
Time management and organizational skills. Self directed.
Ability to make quality, independent decisions.
Analytical and strong problem solving skills.
Ability to work effectively and efficiently under tight deadlines, high volumes and multiple interruptions.
