WHAT WE OFFER The Technician will conduct experiments in laboratory and/or large scale foam machines in support of Flexible Foam Raw Materials Research projects as well as prepare and test laboratory and/or large scale lab foam samples in support of Applications Development, Polyol and Isocyanate Manufacturing Quality/troubleshooting and Innovation. Major Tasks: Develops and conducts specialized foam tests. Maintains and improves equipment and apparatus. Develops and manipulates data gathered from experiments. Performs routine maintenance on equipment and/or instruments covered by standard procedures with close supervision; assists in troubleshooting problems and suggests causes or improvements utilizing established procedures. Applies basic math and statistical analysis; proficient with operation of instrument/equipment using menu-driven software. Communicates with internal stakeholders under supervision to obtain information necessary to perform tasks/job, exchange information or observations, and to make suggestions. Aware of practices to obtain consistency of results; ability to follow standard procedures to generate calibration curves, run standards or machine checks, perform material balances and maintain control charts. Assigned work in foams and polyols can encompass either polyether polyols and/or polymer polyols as well as isocyanates, catalysts, surfactants and additives. Work under regular or continuous supervision using standard procedures/instructions on well-defined problems. WHAT YOU OFFER Qualifications: Formal degree / training preferred; no experience required Knowledge of common laboratory procedures and skill and, mechanical aptitude in handling laboratory equipment as well as, modifying/adapting laboratory equipment for specific development, programs Basic knowledge of the practical application and/or usage of standard methods, techniques and/or equipment. Proficiency in the use of a broader range of methods, techniques and or equipment Ability to multi-task while working independently with occasional, supervision Ability to analyze, review and summarize data in an effective, manner Ability to work in a team environment with a group of diverse, individuals Basic computer (e.g. MS Office and lab-specific software) skills Good technical and interpersonal communication skills Ability to maintain a safe work environment and follow safe work, practices (e.g. with chemicals) Ability to move chemical 55 gallon drums / 5 gallon cans for use in the foam making process.
