WHAT WE OFFER
This position will handle day-to-day compliance activities as it relates to the analysis for duty drawback, transactional audits and compilation and coordination of regulatory records. In addition, the position is required to review and approve the regulatory screenings to support the continuous movement of the customer orders.
Major Responsibilities:
- Execution of the transactional monitoring of trade compliance blocks in GTS, review and release of shipments blocked due to compliance reasons e.g. Denied Parties, Import and Export control purposes.
- Maintain a recordkeeping system for all Customs entry documentation and ensure recordkeeping requirements are satisfied as required by U.S. Customs, the U.S. Commerce Department, the U.S. Census Bureau and the Canadian Border Services Agency including the maintenance of the International Trade and Compliance SharePoint and Documentum sites.
- Manage the review, tracking and documentation for the Enhanced Proliferation Control Initiative (“EPCI”) process requirements.
- Oversee the compliance management and performance review for U.S. import brokers including being responsible for compliance of the Covestro LLC international courier shipments, broker partnership, communication, periodic broker reviews and as needed, process improvement plans.
- Prepare periodic compliance reports for U.S. import and export transactions using the automated commercial environment (“ACE”) for compliance reviews and business analysis including the management and oversight of Covestro’s import duty payment program to U.S Customs and subsequent reporting to U.S. Customs via ACE.
- Facilitate the timely preparation and filing of the engineering plastics polycarbonate duty drawback claims and support in the preparation and filing of other duty drawback opportunities in compliance with the U.S. Customs Regulations including compiling related import and export documentation.
- Ability to master and support the issuance of USMCA (and other free trade agreement) Certificates of Origin in compliance with applicable regulations as well as the management of data input and reporting in the 3rd party CTPAT database.
- Support transactional compliance exceptions and internal customer related requests for U.S. import matters.
WHAT YOU OFFER
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of business experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- International logistics and/or international trade compliance
- Knowledge in importing with U.S. Customs and other government agency regulatory clearances along with common knowledge of compliance requirements
Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of supply chain
- Must take responsibility for decisions but know when to seek management and/or team involvement. Must possess strong organizational, quick thinking and problem solving skills and take initiative.
- Must demonstrate the ability to work in an international environment, building professional relationships with foreign entities and personnel.
- Must exercise flexibility in adapting to new requirements, systems and process/controls.
- Must maintain a working knowledge of drafting procedures and implementation of such.
- Interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal and external customers and suppliers, team skills, and computer application skills are a must. Must take direction straightforwardly.
