Covia is looking for a Controls Engineer who will have a positive impact on the Operations team at our Wedron, IL facility. The Controls Engineer will have the opportunity to determine and comply with the predictive, preventive and corrective maintenance of electronic, electrical and instrumentation tools and equipment for their correct and proper functioning. In addition to determining the reliability margin of the instruments, as well as monitoring, analyzing and interpreting circuit and control problems, as well as the implementation of new control and automation technologies.
The successful incumbent will have the following Key Accountabilities:
- Ensure EHS compliance and adherence to internal standards for safe and sustainable operations.
- Create and run maintenance schedule for control equipment.
- Generate reports of maintenance routines to control teams.
- Align the maintenance schedule to the production schedule.
- Execute the calibration of the control equipment.
- Keep the measuring instruments in optimal conditions.
- Make reports of the calibration of the equipment.
- Carry out the plan and configuration of the control equipment.
- Comply with the configuration of plant control equipment (Allen Bradley, Schneider, ABB, etc.).
- Define together with the manager the teams with configuration priority.
- Schedule and execute the routine of the dashboards.
- Diagnose failures in dashboards.
- Ensure predictive and preventive maintenance of control systems.
- Check that all drawings and diagrams are up to date.
- Coordinate together with the Engineering area the implementation of new technologies for control and automation of plant processes
- Travel Requirements 10%, mainly for training and company-wide meetings
- Collaborate with cross functional and interdependent departments as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned
The successful incumbent will have the following Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechatronics, Electronics, Engineering, or Science from an accredited college or university, required
- More than 2 years of experience in instrumentation and control
- Statistics management
- PLC management and programming
- TMP/Lean Manufacturing Knowledge is preferrable
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work well with others required including process operations, technical specialists, site operators, contractors, supply chain and other functions
- Demonstrated ability to perform essential functions of position required
