Job Description
This AVP role reports to the Senior Vice President (SVP), Cox Media. The Assistant Vice President (AVP), Technology provides strategic direction, leadership, and development responsibility for all applications, custom software, sales support systems, fulfillment platforms, databases, and warehousing infrastructure to support development of new Cox Media Video and Digital Product Systems.
This leader will collaborate with key Cox Media Operations leaders, market leaders, and external vendors to define technology strategies and standards, outline foundational technical architectural requirements, integration requirements, long term application and system roadmaps, determine best-practice solutions, plan and execute user implementation plans, define and measure results, and proactively monitor effectiveness of applications, databases and systems including Cox Technology performance standards (SLA's and KPSI's). Further responsibilities include staffing, training, managing, and developing resources assigned to Cox Media's Technology and Development organization.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned technical leader and executive in enterprise applications, database and BI infrastructure, has experience in system integration and data migration, technology transformation for legacy systems, deep knowledge of Agile and other development methodologies, and working in a managed services environment. The candidate needs excellent communication skills at all levels across technology, business, and external vendors. This role requires strong project, program, and external vendor management skills to supervise on and offshore teams.

Responsibilities
Strategy and Leadership
- Develop a comprehensive application and technology roadmap that will adapt quickly to a rapidly evolving new media portfolio of products and services
- Anticipate industry direction and relate those changes to current/future needs for advertising fulfillment systems, marketing platforms, and customer facing sales tools
- Collaborate with the VP of Operations to drive improvements in the corresponding process, policies, and governance
- Lead and partner with key stakeholders to drive technical design, solution development, and new tool identification as part of an enterprise technology plan (architecture and roadmap)
- Lead deployment of new technology platforms and sales tools across Cox Media markets
- Create new production ready systems for fulfillment (as specified by SLAs), and full end-to-end lifecycle management of new systems as platforms are operationalized
- Data sourcing, movement, and transformation
- Systems integration and data storage
- Information delivery and end user applications for fulfillment, sales, and operations platforms
- Data maintenance and support tools (campaign monitoring and operational support systems)
- Drive innovation and improve the overall efficiencies by reducing operational burden of manual processes both in the Field and in Cox Media's centralized operations structure (CFC)
Management
- Portfolio and Program Management - identify, prioritize, and organize key initiatives and serve as a program manager (as needed)
- Financial Management - Analyze and manage capital and expense budgets; define long term capital needs.
- Manage staff day-to-day to execute technology objectives and grow talented resources
- Lead application development, architecture, and engineering teams to manage creation of new platforms and products
- Oversee and lead contract negotiations, vendor management and managed service agreements
- Serve as the key technology leader responsible for definition of Cox Media's long term technical architecture and enabling systems
Qualifications
Required
- A minimum of 18 years of experience in a directly related area, during which both professional and management capabilities have been clearly demonstrated with at least 7 years of experience in a leadership role.
- An equivalent combination of education and work related experience will be considered.
- Requires extensive experience and knowledge of business intelligence, data warehousing, database management, corporate systems, transformation and movement, integration, and information delivery.
- Demonstrated experience in managing and/or implementing BI tools, applications, systems (Hyperion, Sage, Informatica, GoldenGate, DataMirror, etc.).
- Large scale system integration, migration and technology transformation background is critical (legacy and non-legacy platforms).
- Proven track record in managing external relationships with partners, vendors and teams on and off-shore.
- Strong skills in strategy and planning, budgeting and P&L management, customer support, and vendor selection.
Preferred
- A BS/BA in related discipline strongly preferred (i.e. computer science, mathematics, operations, or a related field).
- MBA or related Master's degree preferred.
- Experience in Media, Television Advertising, and national IT standards in Telecommunications/Cable industry.
