(Cyber M&A Co-Op:  Summer 2022, Spring 2023 and Fall 2023)

 

Co-op students are an integral part of the Cox Communications, Inc. (CCI) technology workforce.  The Cyber M&A team is seeking a co-op for a unique and exciting opportunity to learn about the Cyber M&A lifecycle (i.e., strategy, pre-diligence, post-diligence, and integration), and perform tasks to help CCI minimize security risk associated with target investments and acquisitions.

In this role, the co-op will primarily work closely with the Senior Manager and third-party partners on various projects that are both challenging and rewarding.  This role is responsible for supporting the Senior Manager with tasks that include, but are not limited to, reviewing/analyzing target security controls, comparing target security controls against CCI’s minimum security control set, documenting diligence findings, creating presentations for varied audiences to report out on diligence findings and remediation planning, and various strategic initiatives.

Students who are interested in a career in Cyber M&A will have the opportunity to learn best practices for performing cyber diligence on investment and acquisition targets to assist CCI with fulfilling its market expansion strategy.

Projects/Assignments

Students may perform the following functions:

  1. Collaborate with third party partners and review/verify target security assessment findings in comparison with CCI’s minimum control set
  2. Understand remediation plans, and work with stakeholders/risk owners to ensure identified risks are properly remediated
  3. Update/maintain the Cyber M&A playbook and drive all investment and acquisition activities (e.g., from diligence through to integration)
  4. Participate in meetings (i.e., strategy, touch point, assessment findings, etc.)
  5. Administrative/project management (i.e., notes, follow-up emails, project expense tracking, etc.)

Attributes/Skills

  1. Strong desire to learn about cyber risk and the importance of performing target assessments/diligence during the M&A process
  2. Desire to understand and interpret/prioritize diligence findings, and various remediation options
  3. General interest in learning about corporate investments, and the consolidation of corporations or corporate assets through various types of M&A transactions
  4. Excellent communication skills (i.e., verbal, written and interpersonal)
  5. Strong Microsoft experience including Excel and PowerPoint

 

Qualifications:

Minimum requirements:

  1. Where permitted by applicable law, must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to be considered for this U.S. based job (Reasonable accommodations for medical and religious objections will be considered)
  2. Currently enrolled in a related degree program such as Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or Business Administration
  3. Able to commit to a minimum of three co-op semester rotations or an internship
  4. Eligible to work in the United States
  5. Ability to work at CCI’s headquarters in Atlanta, GA (or remotely, as applicable)

 Preferred skills in one or more:

  1. Familiarity, understanding or interest in security frameworks such as ISO 27000, NIST 800-53, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, SSAE 16 SOC1/SOC2/SOC3, and PCI Data Security Standard
