A Field Inspector functions as a member of the Manheim Express team for a designated Region with the primary responsibilities of providing accurate and complete documentation of overall vehicle condition within the parameters of a Manheim Express Inspection. More specifically, the documentation provided by the Field Inspector is used to support the processing and sale of client/customer cosigned vehicles within the Manheim Marketplace. A basic understanding and delivery of the following is required: VIN recognition; proper notation of all options and equipment in vehicle; proper odometer reading and operable function; identification of damage, missing parts, and major mechanical problems; estimating repair cost pricing; recommending labor actions, severity, pricing; identifying value added options; identifying basic mechanical conditions; identifying common wear and tear; evaluating fluid levels; documenting vehicle condition in writing by completing appropriate Manheim Express Condition Report; completing inspections process and data entry in appropriate time frames; collecting digital photos per specific criteria guidelines.
- Verify vehicle information– identify damage, missing parts, and mechanical problems by inspecting all customer vehicles at time of receipt (i.e., interior, exterior, odometer reading, trunk area, engine compartment), noting any damage or repair to frame/paint, engine noise, AC/heater operation, radio, tire condition, etc.
- Prepare and complete all necessary documentation.
- Maintain knowledge to ensure all policies and procedures are followed.
- Conduct thorough assessment of vehicle condition following the Manheim Express Inspection process.
- Locate, start, move, inspect, and return vehicles on dealer’s lots safely.
- Understand basic NAAA frame/structure guidelines as well as common vehicle condition flaws and how to identify them.
- Perform basic mechanical checks on vehicles including powertrain, drivetrain, and electrical components.
- Utilize SalesForce.com for reporting, lead input and customer performance reviews.
- Inform and educate dealers of changes in auction policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates professionalism and sincere appreciation for the business relationships that have been established amongst the dealers and Manheim.
- Functions as a solid team player and work closely with teammates, field sales, and customer care to create a superior customer experience.
- Works with manager to ensure a consistent and effective online and in-lane customer experience, appropriate transaction processing, high customer satisfaction and service levels.
- Will partner with our Clients to inspect vehicles at their location. There will also be responsibility to ask for more inventory when at Clients location.
- Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling the behaviors related to such. Actively participate in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED preferred.
- 3 years of experience in the automobile field (i.e., inspections, body/mechanic shop, etc.)
- Understanding of Baseline Inspections & vehicle grading.
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record required.
- Reliable transportation is required.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills required.
- Strong technical aptitude.
- Body, paint and mechanical repair knowledge strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with unibody and full-frame vehicles strongly preferred.
- Motivated and ability to work with remote supervision.
- Good organizational skills needed.
- Ability to multitask, follow directions and take instruction required.
- Ability to stand, walk, or sit for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to bend, stoop, squat or kneel.
- Ability to lift and hold at least 10 lbs at waist level for an extended period of time.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
- Vision abilities required include close, distance and color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Other duties as needed or required
- Requires physical ability and mental acuity to execute the duties of the position successfully within required timeframes in order to meet business requirements.
