Role description :

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has a strong record as a powerful investigative force for good, and we are looking for someone to join a team committed to that mission.

If selected for this role, you will assist the investigations team in providing unique, in-depth stories for print, digital, audio, and video editions by examining the workings of government and other powerful institutions and individuals, including candidates for public office.

Duties include :

• Conducting interviews
• Pitching and writing stories
• Creating open records requests
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications :

• Be working toward a bachelor's degree and have up to 2 years of directly relevant experience. The right candidate could also have 4 years of experience in a related field without a degree.
• The ideal candidate will have strong teamwork and communication skills, as well as a willingness to adapt in an ever-changing environment.
• Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and an understanding of news judgment and journalism ethics.
• An ability to take constructive criticism.
• Passion and belief in local, regional, and statewide journalism and its role as a societal change agent.
• Reliable automobile transportation required.
• Reliable internet service for remote work environment required.
• Ability to work weekends and unusual hours as dictated by news events.

This role will typically work fewer than 20 hours a week.

USD 23.17 - 34.81 per hour

Compensation :

Hourly base pay rate is $23.17 - $34.81 / hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and / or an incentive program.
