  • Job Summary
    •  The IT Clinical Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, testing, implementing, and troubleshooting of clinical IT systems and applications within a healthcare organization. This position will be aligned to Epic's Ambulatory and Link solutions. Link is Epic's solution designed for community connection relationships. Ambulatory is Epic's solution for ambulatory clinics. The role involves working to develop and deploy clinical IT systems and applications – managing the implementation process and ensuring that all systems are running smoothly. The Clinical Systems Engineer will also be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving escalated technical issues. The ideal candidate will have a familiarity with outside organization connection strategy and community clinic relationships and how those groups interact. Familiarity with the non-clinical external groups that need to access information about certain patients and why they need the information. And also, a familiarity with physician practices' workflows, hospital outpatient departments and patient experiences within the organization. Understanding a wide array of integration points, including scheduling, lab, radiology, billing, and inpatient clinical workflows.

    Job Requirements

    Education

    Preferred: Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, a related field, or equivalent experience. 

    Experience

    No Experience required

    Preferred - 2 years of experience in healthcare clinical workflows and/or IT support, including experience with nursing, provider, or ancillary department technologies OR Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, a related field.

    Skills

    · Basic understanding of healthcare operations and clinical workflows

    · Knowledge of at least one clinical IT systems, including electronic health records (EHRs), picture archiving and communication systems (PACS), laboratory information systems (LIS), and other related applications.

    · Ability to follow project plans and details.

    · Attention to detail in data entry and documentation.

    · Good communication and interpersonal skills.

    · Ability to work as part of a team.

    · Willingness to learn and adapt to the healthcare environment and adapt to project specific requirements.

    · Basic knowledge of project management concepts and tools.

    IT Clinical Systems Engineer II

    Job Requirements

    Education

    Preferred: Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, a related field.

    Experience

    Required: 4 years of experience in healthcare clinical workflows and/or IT support, including experience with nursing, provider, or ancillary department technologies OR Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, a related field.

    Skills

    · Knowledge of more than one clinical IT systems, including system configuration and optimization.

    · Participates in project planning, requirements gathering, and user training.

    · Effective data analysis skills and reporting for project purposes.

    · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with department resources.

    · Ability to work independently and as part of a team

    · Strong understanding of operational workflows.

    · Strong documentation skills.

    · Ability to lead small to medium size projects related to clinical systems implementations/optimizations.

    IT Clinical Systems Engineer III

    Job Requirements

    Education

    Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, a related field.

    Experience

    Required:  6 years of experience in healthcare clinical workflows and/or IT support, including experience with nursing, provider, or ancillary department technologies OR Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, a related field.

    Skills

    · Advanced knowledge in multiple clinical IT systems, including systems configuration, customization, and optimization.

    · Ability to lead medium to large size projects related to clinical systems implementations / optimizations.

    · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with department resources and management.

    · Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including cross-functional teams.

    · Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills during project phases.

    · Compliance with project management methodologies and quality assurance standards.

    · Contributes to project risk management and mitigation strategies.

    · Provides mentorship and leadership to junior analysts.

    · Stays current with skills and emerging industry trends.

    IT Clinical Systems Engineer IV

    Job Requirements

    Education

    Preferred: Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, a related field. 

    Experience

    Required: 8  years of experience in healthcare clinical workflows and/or IT support, including experience with nursing, provider, or ancillary department technologies OR Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, a related field.

    Skills

    · Mastery of clinical systems and their role in clinical operations.

    · Ability to lead large scale project implementations

    · Knowledgeable of clinical systems integrations with other technologies.

    · Excellent communication and collaboration with clinical leadership, executive management, and external vendors.

    · Ability to work independently and as part of a team including cross-functional teams, and external departments.

    · Ability to lead and mentor junior members of the department.

    · Strategic thinking and alignment of clinical systems with organizational goals.

    · Thought leadership in healthcare IT trends and innovations.

    · Knowledge of emerging technologies and project management methodologies.
