The purpose of this position is to interact with our guests and ensure they have an exceptional experience when dining or drinking at Coyne’s. Bartenders are responsible for positive guest interactions while accurately mixing and serving beverages to guests and servers in a friendly and efficient manner. At all times, bartenders are expected to be attentive to guests needs and make them feel welcome, comfortable, important, and relaxed.
General Bartender Responsibilities
- Greet guests promptly and take beverage orders from the restaurant servers or directly from guests.
- Mix drinks, cocktails, and other bar beverages as ordered and in compliance with company standards.
- Check identification of guests to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol.
- Handle an assigned house bank and follow all cash handling procedures.
- Collect payment for drinks served and balance all receipts.
- Ensure that the assigned bar area is fully equipped with tools and products needed for mixing beverages and serving guests, prepare inventory or purchase requisitions as needed to replenish supplies.
- Serve food items to guests when they are seated at the bar.
- Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of food and beverage products.
- Maintain a clean working area by cleaning as needed.
- Uses proper judgment and, when necessary, refuses service to patrons who are intoxicated or disruptive.
- Extensive knowledge of drink preparation or service.
- Adhere to grooming and appearance standards consistently.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal skills and focus on serving customers.
- Ability to remain calm when dealing with unruly and argumentative patrons.
- Ability to learn cash register software used by bar or restaurant.
- Excellent oral communication skills.
Job Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Previous bartending experience required.
- 3 years serving experience required.
- Previous experience as a fine dining server preferred.
- Must speak English fluently and be able to write in basic English.
License/Qualifications:
- Servsafe alcohol training certification (or equivalent)
