POSITION DUTIES:
1. Screening, interviewing and hiring of full time and hourly drivers and escorts in cooperation with the Human Resources Department; Supervise these employees in the performance of their duties completing employee performance evaluations annually. Organize and oversee the D.M.V. Article 19A Program, performing required procedures as needed. Maintain Driver and Escort files including reports and facts pertinent to Union related hearings. Conduct disciplinary hearings with the Amalgamated Transit Union.
2. Supervise all work activities of office support staff; recommends and implements hiring, discipline, termination and commendation actions for assigned office support personnel; trains subordinates and evaluates job performance, both formally and informally; creates work schedules for assigned staff, including requests for leave.
3. Maintain, compile, compose, coordinate and distribute various confidential and non-confidential transportation information lists, reports and rosters pertaining to eligible drivers and vehicle Insurance, E-Z Pass Tags, vehicle mileage usage, quarterly mileage usage, UMTA vehicles, Nextel radio communication and 24-hour On Call Schedule. Responsible for the organization of the vehicle information files. Maintain original or copies of documentation pertaining to licensing, titling, DOT inspection schedules, NYS Emissions Inspections and registration renewals. Establish and supervise the filing of trip logs; mechanics repair files, vendor files. Track trip logs for DOT inspections
4. Manages all documentation for Department of Motor Vehicle (D.M.V.) transactions; interact with D.M.V. in preparing paperwork for new, transferred, lost, destroyed, duplicate, or replacement items. Prepares documentation for newly purchased vehicles, transferred vehicles, and vehicles sold by CPA/CPT; coordinate all activity with insurance company; when necessary, personally process transactions to obtain results.
5. Supervise the summons program with Parking Violations Bureau and the annual review of the vehicle summary schedule issued by the for issuance of policy renewal insurance card performed by the Confidential Secretary.
6. Reporting and investigating motor vehicular accidents, coordinating documentation and findings with the Director of Fleet Operations, The Director of Transportation, Insurance Company and Broker. Maintain the accident database.
7. Develop and conduct training programs inclusive of the Pre-Service Orientation and the ongoing safety training, which includes employee safety meetings, distribution of materials, and training classes on any and all relevant topics appropriate for our particular industry.
8. Investigate and document incidents and injuries to both consumers and employees. Coordinate results of investigations with appropriate agency personnel and committees. Attend both Incident Review and Safety Committee Meetings as required.
9. Develop a program for monitoring and replacing safety kit and wheelchair Securement equipment.
10. Participate in the Evening/Weekend Supervisor On-Call Rotation
11. Perform all other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS
1. 1-3 years’ supervisory experience in a transportation environment
2. Basic proficiency with a P.C. and Demonstrated communication skills
3. NYS Class B CDL Drivers License with passenger and air brake endorsements
4. NYS DMV Article 19A Examiners License
5. Available for 1 weekend a month on duty.
