Laboratory Assistant I/Glasswasher - Surgery

Scheduled Hours 40 Position Summary This position is responsible for autoclaving and washing glassware used by laboratories; files microscope slides and tissue blocks. Job Description Primary Duties and Responsibilities Collects glassware from the laboratories, washing all glassware and/or plasticware in the washer. Some containers, spatulas and other small items have to be washed by hand. Returns clean glassware to the laboratories. Picks up and delivers department mail from post office and distributes to employee’s mailboxes. Autoclaves bottles, cylinders, pipettes tips, etc. Preferred Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent high school certification. Ability to push a cart with glass slides and tissue blocks (approximately up to 40 lbs.). Minimal typing skills and minimal Excel experience. Some degree of manual dexterity and ability to work around detergents. Required Qualifications N/A Grade R02-H Salary Range $15.25 - $19.31 / Hourly The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
