Scheduled Hours 40 Position Summary The goal of our lab is to move the field of mucosal immunology in order to improve care for those affected by Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD: Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis). We study disease-relevant cell and organ signaling pathways using molecular and cell biology, cutting-edge single-cell technologies, animal models (mice), and human tissues, with the goal of developing novel precision medicine approaches to treat these diseases. This specific position will focus on studying how immune cells regulate mucosal homeostasis and response to IBD therapies. The successful candidate will assist with research study, experiments, preparation of material, and documentation and will use animal (mouse) models and human biospecimens (blood and intestinal samples). Job Description Primary Duties and Responsibilities Conducts research experiments and assays. Evaluates research results, reporting findings and discussing project outcomes with staff involved. Performs data entry and maintains data files on research. Coordinates tissue cultures, reagents, probe tests, etc. Complies with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions. Coordinates research project with other institutions and investigators. Participates in developing hypotheses to be tested and ways of testing it. Assists with general supply/equipment orders, lab maintenance and cleaning. Performs literature searches on specified topics. Working Conditions Works in laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological, chemical and radioactive hazards. Must be physically able to wear protective equipment. Must be able to provide standard care to research animals. Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated ability to implement general laboratory procedures, conduct research and record findings, with focus on pursuit of advanced education in field. Required Qualifications Equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with two to three years of experience in laboratory operations. Grade R07-H Salary Range $16.24 - $27.63 / Hourly The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
