Purpose/Introduction

Chevron Phillips Chemical, (CPChem), would love to have you on-board as an Environmental Superintendent, if you demonstrate knowledge, skills, and capability to own the responsibilities indicated.


We have an immediate opening for this position at the Borger Plant located in Borger, Texas. You will be responsible for providing comprehensive environmental expertise primarily in air quality; some responsibility for wastewater, storm water, drinking water, and/or waste management may also be required. In this position the Environmental Superintendent will be responsible for developing and implementing regulatory and permit compliance programs; regulatory and permit interpretation, strategic planning, and technical assistance for operating units and management teams; calculating emissions; analyzing data and generating required reports; interfacing with other plant locations and corporate staff groups for compliance tracking and performance improvement goals; and acting as Company contact with various agencies, including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for planning, directing, developing and managing all aspects of environmental work and environmental group members at a Specialty Chemicals manufacturing facility
  • Communication of environmental issues and progress with plant personnel from Operations field personnel to Plant Management
  • Interfacing with regulatory agencies such as the TCEQ & EPA along with Corporate Environmental and Legal Departments
  • Responsible for providing expertise and consultation on all environmental programs and issues
  • Tracking/reporting plant wide environmental performance metrics; providing regulatory updates (new and revised) and training of plant personnel
  • Developing and maintaining group budget and participating in due diligence activities
  • Developing a partnership with adjacent refinery Environmental staff and with local groups on regulatory advocacy issues
  • Supervisory responsibilities

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 7 years working knowledge in TCEQ and EPA air, water and solid waste regulations
  • Strong knowledge of federal NSPS, MACT, RCRA and Title V regulatory standards
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interface at all levels
  • Superior written and analytical skills
  • Strong intra- and inter-company networking skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of Underground Injection Control (UIC) regulations
