Job Title: Senior Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist
Location: Harrisonburg, Virginia (Shenandoah Valley Area)
Are you an experienced Environmental Specialist looking for an exciting opportunity in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley area of Virginia? Join our team at our manufacturing facility and play a pivotal role in fostering a strong safety culture and driving EHS performance improvement with a focus on Environmental Compliance.
Responsibilities
Champion environmental compliance, bringing your expertise to the table.
Research and provide support for safety and environmental regulatory compliance.
Lead EHS compliance inspections and facilitate management system audits.
Collaborate with the EHS Manager to develop policies and programs based on regulatory and internal requirements.
Coach plant personnel on EHS management system practices.
Manage data collection and analysis for EHS metrics and reports, including injury and illness, air, waste, energy, and water data.
Act as the plant administrator for EHS Exchange and other data management systems.
Maintain records to ensure compliance with government permits and reporting.
Take the lead on EHS projects supporting energy conservation and continuous improvement.
Chair the safety committee and promote behavior-based safety observations.
Assist in emergency response and evacuation planning.
Participate in job safety analysis and risk assessment.
Develop and deliver EHS training programs.
Oversee EHS record-keeping and communication at the site level.
Manage Workers Compensation claims and explore light duty opportunities when available.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field preferred.
Must be knowledgeable with multi-media environmental regulations including RCRA, CAA, CWA, NPDES, SPCC, and RMP
3-5 years of EHS experience within a manufacturing environment required, with 5 years of overall EHS experience.
Proven track record of reducing injuries and enhancing EHS culture.
Strong knowledge of federal and state safety and environmental laws.
Effective communication skills across all levels of the organization.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and initiatives concurrently.
Comfort working both independently and as part of a team while meeting tight deadlines.
Organized with proficient computer skills, including MS Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, database programs).
