Position Title: Estimating Manager
Location: St. Charles, MO
Position Summary:
The Estimating Manager assigns duties to departmental Estimators to prepare estimates in an efficient time frame. Additionally, the Estimating Manager works with Sales, Engineering and Production departments to ensure information necessary to quote, that should be submitted to engineering, and finally, produce a project that is communicated in a timely manner.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Schedule workload to create the most efficiency within the department.
- Develop and execute a vision for future estimating systems as well as standardization of process.
- Develop and refine estimating standards and configurator data for projects.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates of hours and materials.
- Communicate efficiently with the Sales, Engineering and Production departments to gain additional project information and clarity in the estimate preparation process.
- Provide accurate estimates for projects and products in a timely manner.
- Review vendor quotes and evaluate completeness with spec requirements and scope of work.
- Understand production capabilities, limitations, and processes.
- Provide necessary information to Production and Engineering based on logic and assumptions behind estimate.
- Lead estimating team meetings.
- Incorporate feedback for continuous improvement.
Required Skills:
College degree with 7 years of experience in estimating or equivalent years of experience in estimating
Ability to proficiently read and interpret Engineering drawings, spec sheets, and other technical documentation.
Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
Knowledgeable of metal fabrication techniques and associated costs.
Ability to communicate via phone and in-person to vendors and employees.
Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of A/V systems and electronics.
Understanding of electrical systems and electricity.
Physical Skills:
Required use of fingers and hands to operate a computer.
Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Must be able to remain in a stationary sitting position and move about the office.
Ability to climb stairs/ladder and be able to navigate in a shop environment and in a safe manner.
Travel up to 3% for customer site visit.
