Position Summary:
Crane ChemPharma Flow Solutions is a division within the Fluid Handling Business Segment of Crane Co, a US multi-national which specializes in highly engineered products in niche markets. Crane ChemPharma designs, manufactures, markets and distributes a range of process valves and actuators under the Saunders, Xomox, Revo and Resistoflex brand names for a wide range of applications in a number of industries including the chemical and biopharmaceutical industries.
The value stream supervisor position is responsible for leading the team of manufacturing associates in the value stream. This role has first line responsibility for meeting our expectations for safety, adherence to quality systems, attainment of schedules released to the floor and labor productivity. This role is also responsible to demonstrate proficiency and application of the Crane Business System to meet business goals for the value stream.
Principle Duties (includes, but is not limited to):
· Provide a safe work environment for employees. Insure compliance to all safety requirements, and drive a safety culture.
· Ensure 5S standards are adhered to every day.
· Understand and insure compliance to all quality systems & controls in the manufacturing processes. Audit compliance to process control plans, and implement countermeasures as required.
· Drive improvements in value stream performance by documenting the current state, developing the future state, and driving steps to achieve the future state.
· Primary owner of value stream productivity and shared ownership of OTD, past due, and lead time goals.
· Actively engage in kaizen events in your value stream.
· Daily employee supervision including shift schedules, job assignment, overtime, and vacation coordination.
· Build a strong team. Develop employees to higher levels of performance. Address gaps in performance using the Crane I.C. process, tools and employee policies.
· Fully utilize CBS visual management tools on the shop floor. Performance boards, KPI boards, tactical supply chain boards are examples.
· Audit shop floor compliance to standard work and quality work instructions.
· Lead daily huddles with the team to review results, priorities and relevant information.
· Monthly production planning, comparing demand vs. resources available.
· Shift to shift coordination as required.
· Coordinate support from other functional groups to accomplish goals.
· Coordinate activities around major engineering changes in the value stream, engaging in PCO and NPD.
Essential Qualifications / Experience:
· B.S. in business, engineering or comparable degree.
· Minimum 3 years experience in a leadership role in a manufacturing environment.
· CNC Machine shop experience and knowledge is desired.
· Direct experience implementing LEAN concepts is desired
· Outstanding interpersonal skills.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees, up and down the organization.
· Technical skills sufficient to understand process & product specifications.
· Strong background in ISO 9001 or related standards.
· Extensive knowledge of machining, fabrication and assembly operations.
· Prior participation in a lean manufacturing culture.
