Printer

Position Summary

The Printer is responsible for the printing of high quality security banknotes. S/he is responsible for assisting the Senior Printer and the team, to carry out safely and efficiently make-readies and machine output.

With a keen eye for detail, the Printer will inspect the quality of finished products to ensure that all the printed sheets are matched to the quality standard as approved by the customer.

Responsibilities

·        Takes over the duties of the Lead Printer when required.

·        Prints in Lithography wet or dry, Intaglio and Letterpress sheets and all ancillary machines.

·        Assists in preparing printing press for printing.

·        Sets up and operate presses.

·        Matches ink colour to approved colour sheet.

·        Cleans and full wash machine.

·        Ensures inks and supplies are available as required.

·        Replenishes workstations with supplies.

·        Documents waste sheet on the production order form.

·        Ensures that operational transactions are recorded in daily docket.

·        Ensures that batch cards are properly filled and correspond with batch.

·        Assists with recycling.

·        Forms part of an autonomous maintenance team.

·        Assists in other areas of operations when needed.

·        Identifies cost savings and efficiency improvement opportunities without compromising quality.

·        Ensures that company quality procedures and standards are met.

·        Recognizes and resolves quality issues that fall within Quality Assurance’s defined parameters.

·        Identifies new quality issues as they arise and notifies Senior Printer.

·        Wears PPE gear at all times.

·        Ensures everyone is following the safety guidelines and practices put in place by Crane Safety standard.

·        Stops work and reports any safety breaches or violations to the Senior Printer or the safety committee member.

·        Attends safety orientation and training programmes as instructed.

·        Attends production, quality, health & safety meetings.

·        It is the employee’s responsibility to comply with the Company’s safety policies, ensuring that all personal protective equipment is in place and that good judgment and care are exercised to prevent accidents and personal injury.

Required Qualifications

·        ‘O’ level certificate in English, Maths and Maltese.

·        Ability to understand, read, write and communicate well in English.

·        Previous experience in security printing environment is an asset.

·        Post-secondary Diploma/certificate in printing would be preferred.

·        Possess good knowledge of MS Excel, Word.

·        3 years of experience in a security print manufacturing environment.
