What are the responsibilities and job description for the Interior Designer position at CRATE Architecture?
CRATE is an award-winning, design-oriented Architecture firm focused on commercial interior projects primarily in Fairfield (CT) and Westchester (NY) counties. We offer exposure to an array of practice areas including corporate interiors, workplace, branding, building repositioning, retail, and restaurant design.
CRATE is currently hiring for two positions:
- Interior Designer with 5 years of experience.
- Junior Interior Designer with approximately 3-5 years of experience.
We are looking for creative applicants that are passionate about the design and functionality of each project. Candidates must have a can-do attitude, willing to work both as a team player on larger projects and independently on smaller ones.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Perform all aspects of interior design assignments that include programming, test fits, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, space planning, construction documentation, construction administration
- Participate in the selection and presentation of furniture, furniture systems, fabrics, equipment (FF&E), color palettes, and lighting
- Generate finish plans, specifications, and material selections
- Provide design support and documentation during the execution of design concepts
- Work with external consultants, product representatives, furniture dealers, and fabricators
Qualifications
- Passionate about creativity and design.
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or related field from an accredited school
- 3-5 years professional experience
- Commercial interior experience required; Workplace a plus
- Proficient in Revit and/or AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3D and other modeling software programs
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
- Knowledge of furniture, finishes, materials, color selections, and specifications
- Graphics and visualization skills to effectively communicate design ideas
- Strong verbal, written, and graphic communication skills
- Effective personal time management skills to meet project deadlines
- Strong collaborative and detail-oriented work ethic
