Elementary Music/Band Teacher

Elementary Music/Band Teacher position at Cochranton Elementary School and Junior and Senior High Band at Cochranton Junior Senior High School for the 2024-2025 school year.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Holds a valid Pennsylvania Music K-12 Teaching Certificate as set by the state certification authorities for that specific position and meets the requirements for certification that includes being highly qualified as outlined by the Federal NCLB Act. 

1. Must have understanding and knowledge of computer technology.                       

1. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. 

REPORTS TO:    Building Principal 

JOB GOAL:         To enable students to learn subject matter and/or skills that will contribute to their development as mature and responsible men and women.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1. Plans a program of study within the curricular framework of the district that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students. 

1. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to lifelong learning, to the maturity and interests of students, and encourages students to be active learners. 

1. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects which communicate these objectives to students. 

1. Employs instructional methods and materials that are appropriate in preparing for the information age by using technology in the educational process. 

1. Assesses the accomplishments of students using a variety of methodology on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required. 

1. Seeks the assistance of district specialists when students have possible learning, social or emotional difficulties. 

1. Confers with colleagues, students, and/or parents on a regular basis. 

1. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct. 

1. Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedures which maintain order in the classroom in a fair and consistent manner. 

1. Plans and instructs purposeful assignments for teacher aides, volunteers, and/or student teachers. 

1. Participates in staff development activities which will provide research based training and knowledge in curriculum, instruction, and assessment. 

1. Attends staff meetings and demonstrates a willingness to serve on district committees when possible. 

1. Performs other reasonable duties as are assigned by the principal for the well being of the student.
