Job Description
The Plumbing Designer, Senior Level has an intermediate level of design autonomy and performs their job functions under the supervision of a project’s Engineer-of-Record. The Plumbing Designer IV works on matters of intermediate to advanced complexity. This role is expected to work closely with other architects, engineers, and designers, as well as other internal and external team members to ensure a coordinated, constructible, and complete design. Other tasks include assisting with 3D modeling and design, conducting field investigations, performing independent design tasks, and producing discipline deliverables.
Responsibilities
- Interface with client and external partners required
- Plan work and manage budget from a Plumbing design perspective
- Mentor Designer I through III staff
- Conduct quality checking of documents, e.g., technical verification of design calculations and documentation,
- Travel as required for client development and project execution
- Interface with internal and external cross-discipline project design and construction team members
- Interface with manufacturers and vendors to support the Plumbing design
- Work on a variety of plumbing assignments supporting all phases of design including initial programming, planning, feasibility, scope and concept development, detailed design, construction documentation, and construction administration
- Work closely with other architects, engineers, and designers, as well as other internal and external team members to ensure a coordinated, constructible, and complete design
- Assist with 3D modeling and design, conducting field investigations, performing independent design tasks, and producing discipline deliverables
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Applicable Associate degree, technical trade school certification, or demonstrated Architectural, Engineering, and/or Construction firm experience in the field of Plumbing design required
- Minimum of 15 years of experience required, including field experience in either a design or construction capacity
Additional Qualifications
- Intermediate proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD MEP required
- ASPE CFD (Certified in Plumbing Design) Preferred
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office required
- Intermediate experience with the plumbing codes required
- Intermediate experience with applicable building codes required
- Significant experience with developing and implementing intermediate to advanced domestic cold & hot water systems, Non-potable water, soft water, tepid water, natural gas, specialty service piping (gases such as N2, O2, CO2, and compressed air), sanitary waste/venting, storm water, and specialty waste/drainage system (such process and biological waste) designs in the built work environment required
- Experience with troubleshooting issues with Plumbing systems preferred
- Intermediate knowledge of cGMPs and/or experience with advanced technology industry projects such as R&D labs, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, food & nutrition and/or consumer products is required
- Proficient at intermediate Plumbing design calculations under the supervision of an engineer required
- Proficiency in conducting and leading field surveys of existing conditions and field data gathering/reporting required
- Proficiency at conducting field surveys to confirm project scope and identify non-compliant field conditions required
- Proficiency with RFI responses, submittal and shop drawing reviews, and developing punch lists required
- Proficiency with basic specification editing to align with Plumbing design
- Solid working knowledge of the building code, technical and design aspects of CRB’s market areas, and will be expected to work closely with architectural, engineering, and construction staff members to ensure assignments are completed accurately and efficiently
