JOB TITLE: Overnight Registered Alcohol and Drug Technician or Certified Counselor
EMPLOYEE STATUS: Non-exempt
SUMMARY OF POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
The RADT or Counselor will provide supervision and assistance to the residents and outpatients in accordance with the criteria of the program's goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
These are the most significant performance factors involved with this position and they will be the principal factors on which the employee will be evaluated:
1. Provides a complete and comprehensive orientation for new clients to program rules, handbook, expectations, treatment plan and areas needed for assistance within the first 48 hours of admission.
2. Process clients following intake protocols into residential treatment. Complete all intake forms on admission of all clients, including orientation form, as requested.
3. Administer Urine Analysis (UA); perform proper storage of the sample; accurately complete information in Best Notes; assure proper transferring of UA sample to the appropriate testing authority.
4. Keep current progress notes (as assigned).
5. Oversee and inspect residential client housekeeping duties including client daily chores.
6. Conduct weekly, unannounced searches on all client residential quarters, all non-residential areas within facilities, building and on all outside grounds; document searches.
7. Responsible for maintaining the main office in a neat and tidy manner.
8. Perform all client day-to-day duties including assisting clients with ADLs.
9. Oversee clients' recreational activities, transport clients to A.A. meetings, medical appointments, and other functions as requested by supervisor.
10. Maintain detailed notes of all incidents occurring during the shift and complete the appropriate Critical Incident Report promptly.
11. Attend one counselor supervision session per month with the program director.
12. Attend and participate in in-service training and other training as directed by management.
13. Must maintain current, required certifications such as CPR and First Aid.
14. Maintain licensing and renewal responsibilities.
15. Perform receptionist duties and relay telephone messages promptly to various staff members and clients.
16. Counselors with assigned clients are required to meet with their clients twice a week for 20-minute sessions. These sessions will typically involve guidance with 12-Step programs and encouraging clients to obtain a sponsor outside of Creative Care. Documentation of sessions must be completed within 24 hours.
17. Assist clients with self-administration of medication.
18. Keep up with all email correspondence during scheduled work days.
19. Must stay awake/alert at all times.
20. Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
LEVEL OF EDUCATION/TRAINING/QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school diploma or GED preferred.
2. Staff Counselors are required to have a certification/licensure by an accrediting body, while Resident Advisors MUST be registered with either CADTP, CCAPP or CAADE.
3. Experience performing duties that involved shift work; previous experience and training working in the 12 Step Field and/or Dual Diagnosis treatment strongly preferred.
4. Must have demonstrated ability and prior experience working with minimum supervision and high levels of responsibility in highly stressful situations.
5. Must submit a statement from a medical doctor certifying that the potential employee is free of any communicable disease. Employment offers are conditional based on this requirement.
6. Must have or, within 45 days from hire, be able to obtain current First Aid and CPR card, or EMT certification.
7. Must be available to work weekends, nights, midnight shifts, irregular shifts and holidays.
8. Because intensive interaction with substance abusers in the early stages of their recovery can trigger relapses and emotional setbacks, recovering substance abusers must have at least two (2) years of continuous sobriety.
9. Must have demonstrated ability to handle confidential information in an appropriate manner.
10. Valid California driver's license, provide evidence of vehicle insurance, and be insurable under Creative Care's insurance.
11. Ability to work well with clients, associates and the public; work references will be required.
12. Must pass extensive criminal history and child abuse/neglect background checks.
