The Senior Accountant’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Reconciliation and analysis of financial statements, investment accounting, and corporate underwriting expenses.
- Compliance with regulatory entities, financial reporting to NAIC, and state bodies.
- General ledger reconciliation, issue resolution, and anomaly explanation.
- Reporting to the Board of Directors and Management on a regular and ad hoc basis.
- Facilitation of annual audits, tax reporting, and compliance support.
- Reinsurance accounting, treasury functions, and reporting.
- Apply accounting knowledge to diverse business situations.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness in financial reporting systems.
- Professional communication internally and externally, fostering trust and commitment.
- Serve as a technical resource and provide constructive feedback.
- Articulate complex ideas clearly, enabling seamless communication.
- Inspire and motivate teams with confident communication.
- Identify and implement process improvements, integrating best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Utilize advanced accounting systems and software, requiring knowledge of various automated and manual processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors’ degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent
- Advanced degree or CPA preferred.
- 5 years of general accounting or public accounting experience.
- Insurance industry experience desired but not required.
