JOB DESCRIPTION:
CGC client is working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in response to the global COVID-19 pandemic and the United States’ mass COVID-19 vaccination program. As vaccine safety monitoring is a critical component to any vaccination program, for COVID-19 vaccine safety monitoring efforts are the most intense and comprehensive in U.S. history. CDC is relying on established monitoring programs such as the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) and new programs including v-safe, a smartphone after vaccination health check in system.
CGC client is seeking EPIDEMIOLOGISTS to provide epidemiological support services for the V-Safe and VAERS program. US Citizen Only. Tasks include:
Task 1: EPIDEMIOLOGIST - V-Safe Program.
Task 1.1. Work with CDC staff to develop analysis plans for vaccine safety data collected within v-safe platform.
Task 1.2 Write and execute Statistical Analysis System (SAS) code to conduct epidemiologic analyses of v-safe data (a large relational database containing longitudinal data), using Structured Query Language (SQL) and SAS macro programming.
Task 1.3 Work with the v-safe data manager to support internal dashboards describing v-safe data.
Task 1.4. Work with v-safe data manager to identify and communicate data cleaning and data quality needs in v-safe data that is routinely collected.
Task 1.5. Construct tables and figures describing findings from epidemiologic analyses of v-safe data.
Task 1.6. Conduct literature reviews related to current knowledge of vaccine safety in COVID-19 vaccines. Literature review may include a survey of various sources (such as books, conference papers and journal articles) relevant to a specific topic or area of research.
Task 1.7. Draft two manuscripts describing vaccine safety findings from analyses of v-safe data, presenting findings in clear, scientific language. The contractor shall write manuscripts with the v-safe team, serving as a primary author or co-author.
Task 1.8. The contractor shall follow all current “CDC Publication and Clearance Policies” and will submit the manuscript on behalf of the CDC to the target journal.
Task 1.9. Develop technical presentations on v-safe data and findings in PowerPoint for presentation to internal CDC groups. All presentation will be reviewed by the COR and the v-safe team lead. The contractor shall follow all current “CDC Publication and Clearance Policies”.
Task 1.10. Participate on at least 5 conference calls per week related to v-safe project discussions to provide input and feedback on current projects.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum education includes a Master’s degree in public health, statistics, or epidemiology.
Experience requirements include 3 years in advanced SAS programming skills, conducting epidemiologic analyses using data from large relational data bases of longitudinal data.
Task 2: EPIDEMIOLOGISTS - Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS).
Task 2.1. Work with State and Jurisdictional Vaccine Safety Coordinators (VSCs) to navigate instructions accessing jurisdictional data downloaded from Epidemic Information Exchange (Epi-X).
Task 2.2. Work with State and Jurisdictional VSCs navigate instructions on opening data downloaded from Epi-X.
Task 2.3. Respond to and follow up on technical queries regarding COVID-19 vaccine safety and VAERS data received to the VAERS data team.
Task 2.4. Respond to VSC inquiries (including questions about reporting to VAERS).
Task 2.5. Participate in conference calls and virtual meetings at least 3 times a week to discuss and provide feedback on current VAERS projects.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Personnel supporting this task shall have: Minimum education includes a Master’s degree in public health, statistics, or epidemiology.
