Substitute Facilitator Job Description
Creative Growth is seeking to add to its pool of on call substitute art facilitators. Substitute
art facilitators help support Creative Growth’s art studio team (onsite and remote classes)
by filling in when art facilitators need time off from work. Client artists in Creative Growth’s
Studio work with a wide range of media to create 2D and 3D artwork, including painting,
drawing, mixed media, ceramics, woodwork, textiles, rugs, and digital media. The program
is designed to provide client artists with opportunities to develop independence,
self-direction, and creative expression while acquiring skills for art making and
professional development. The right candidate will be fully aligned with Creative Growth's

justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Description
- Assist client artists with materials and ongoing art projects, with guidance
- Monitor artist well being and behavior, and seek assistance from studio staff if
- Maintain a safe, organized and functional work area and positive classroom
environment that supports client artists’ independent learning, collaboration,
and choice; work with other staff to maintain Studio safety.
- Work cooperatively and professionally with other staff, volunteers, and client
- Communicate with the Studio staff lead and studio staff to coordinate days you
- Maintain client artist confidentiality in compliance with the Health Insurance

Qualifications
- Studio art background with a strong foundation in studio basics such as
materials as well as areas of specialization including but not limited to fiber
art, sculpture (ceramic, wood, etc) and printmaking.
- Familiarity with and desire to implement person-centered principles.
- Self-starter, can work independently, are inventive, and able to multitask.
- Ability to work in a team-based environment, as well as work independently
- Find satisfaction in helping others achieve their goals.
- Enthusiastically committed to the vision, mission, and core values of Creative
- Possess compassion and respect for the community we support.
- Enjoy working in a diverse, creative, collaborative, and fast-paced
- Share with us a respect for diverse backgrounds and voices and a commitment
- (Comfort with technology a plus, particularly Zoom)
- Flexibility, ability to adapt to frequently changing circumstances
- Successful completion of the following background checks and clearances, as
mandated by the State of California, Community Care Licensing (CCL) Division,
for all employees of licensed facilities such as Creative Growth: record of
criminal history obtained from California Department of Justice, i.e., clearance
to work in a licensed facility; record of health screening, including negative TB
test results; and current First Aid and CPR certification (Creative Growth will
provide necessary training and cover the cost of acquiring these certifications)
- COVID-19 vaccination and booster or legally valid exemption
- Starting at $20/hour
Physical and other special requirements:
- This position requires light physical effort. It may include frequent lifting of
stooping and/or lifting will be required. Considerable walking and standing
for extended periods of time may be involved.
- Creative Growth strives to provide a Trauma Informed environment for all

artists that nurture their art practices and overall wellness.
- Knowledge of/passion for the fields of contemporary art and disability justice
- Bilingual and/or ASL a plus!!
- Special Certification mandated by the State of California, California Care Licensing (CCL)
training and cover the cost for acquiring certification and testing.
**This role may involve providing emotional care to artists. Providing emotional care is a
reality for most artist-facing positions and is a task shared collectively and only within our
professional or personal boundaries. Professional and educational experiences related to
this type of care are not required; we prioritize and appreciate anyone’s ability to be
authentically kind, understanding, and supportive.
