POSITION SUMMARY
|
The Director of Development oversees the organization's fundraising and will identify, define and develop funding sources to support existing and planned program activities. The position will be responsible for researching, writing and submitting grant proposals to government and private foundations. They will also be responsible for managing and reporting on existing grants. Additionally, the position is responsible for creating and successfully completing the organization's fundraising campaigns and events throughout the year.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
|

Develop strong relationships within the community to foster a positive image such that companies and individuals will make Creative Living the local charity of choice for funding

Plan, prepare and write compelling and comprehensive grant applications and fundraising proposals

Maintain existing donor relationships to encourage ongoing contributions while building new ones

Research individuals, corporations and foundations that are interested in gift giving and secure financial support through donations, sponsorships, and grants

Effectively communicate the organizations mission, vision and programs to potential donors

Create annual fundraising campaign calendar and execute those campaigns to raise money throughout the year

Manage fundraising events/campaigns throughout the year from pre-planning to post-execution including venue selection, planning calendar, sponsorship materials, sponsor relations, marketing, ticketing, silent auction, volunteer management, etc.

Write, design and manage the production and supply of newsletters, brochures, advertisements, annual reports, invitations, posters, press materials and other branded materials

Oversee aesthetics to ensure properties reflect the Creative Living brand and standards

Maintain the donor/CRM database to include copying, coding, routing, and entering of donor gifts, retaining accurate donor records and preparing thank you/acknowledgement letters and other donor correspondence

In conjunction with Executive Director, manage resident recruitment and intake initiatives including initial screening of candidates, scheduling and participating in candidate interviews, processing applications and reference requests, sending out tenancy offers and managing waitlist

Attend Board meetings and prepare information as requested by the Executive Director

Create content and moderate all Creative Living social media channels. Ensure content remains relevant, informative, fresh and in alignment with the Creative Living brand standards

Serve as intermediary between volunteers (both individual and organizational) and Creative Living ensuring a positive, fulfilling experience for all

Work collaboratively with the Creative Living Team and external partners to ensure strong working relationships

Provide coverage for the Resident Assistant Coordinator in their absence and serve as a backup to the Executive Director as necessary

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

Strong verbal, written, analytical and interpersonal skills

Proficient in the Microsoft Office365 and Adobe Creative Cloud tools and software

Ability to edit photos and create flyers, GIFs etc. in apps

Strong organization skills with the ability to implement systems and follow up processes

Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks

Excellent communication skills

Ability to work both independently and in team settings

REQUIRED EDUCATION & PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
|

Bachelor’s degree
-
Four years minimum work experience in public relations and fundraising; experience working in a non-profit organization preferred

Strong passion for Creative Living’s mission and core values that promote the community inclusion and independent living enrichment of people with disabilities

Commitment to continuing learning via seminars, webinars and networking

Creativity and persuasion skills

Confidence in public speaking
