Position Purpose and Objectives

 

As a Business Banking Specialist at Credit Union of Texas (CUTX), you will professionally represent the Credit Union in the community for the purpose of generating additional business opportunities, as well as assisting in building and further extending the CUTX commercial services brand, with adherence to our mission of providing exceptional experiences and frictionless financial services to its members. 

 

This position is responsible for acquiring and developing commercial and business banking relationships and deliver a full range of business deposits and related products/services such as treasury management, business credit cards and payment solutions. Additional responsibilities include helping facilitate credit requests for small-to-moderate sized business members.

 

The role primarily engages in outbound calling activities to generate new business opportunities within CUTX’s designated and targeted market areas, as well as serve as a subject matter expert and partner with branch personnel and the commercial lending team, to provide continued education and expertise around business deposits and related cash management services.

 

Major Duties and Essential Functions:

 

Sales 

  • Achieve individual and/or team financial, production and relationship results, relative to the specific metrics and goals assigned for the Business Banking Specialist position.
  • Sales results should align with the needs of the community, and ultimately support the organizational commitment to serving businesses throughout its market areas.
  • Engage with existing members, prospects, and referral sources through routine calling activity and proactive outreach to enrich or develop new business relationship opportunities.
  • Engage in sales practices that are aligned to create value for both the member and for CUTX.

 

Service & Sales Support and Referrals

  • Foster collaborative partnerships that deliver value for members, prospects, and internal partners.
  • Assist in developing and delivering new business banking and cash management products to the market; as well as escalating identified product refinement opportunities
  • Initiate conversation to uncover sales or referral opportunities.
  • Listen attentively and ask insightful questions to fully understand member needs and challenges; taking prompt actions to provide meaningful solutions.
  • Provide support and appropriately handle business and commercial banking membership service issues, as necessary.

 

Operations and Administration

  • Comply with all federal and state regulations, credit union policies, procedures, and delegated authorities to manage risk related to credit, operational, reputational, regulatory, and legal aspects of personal interactions, member transactions and financial exposures. The results may include an accountability for individual contribution, as well as team performance.

 

Positions directly supervised:  This role does not supervise any additional positions.

 

Specific knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position:

  • Knowledge of business deposit account types and experience in selling and servicing business and treasury products and services
  • A thorough understanding of CUTX products, sales, and new business development practices
  • Basic knowledge of applicable credit union retail and lending operations, policies, procedures, and support systems
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and demeanor necessary to perform business relationship management and sales duties, as well as the ability to make effective one-on-one and group presentations
  • Possess strong sales skills (i.e., establish commonalities, rapport, trust, etc.); sales practices and techniques; and deliver with a high degree of professionalism
  • Extensive in-market experience with clients and referral sources/contacts.
  • Ability to work with little supervision.
  • Must complete federal registration and annual renewal as required by SAFE Act.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Position requires frequent driving to other offices, bank customers, etc. Bank car not provided.

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in a comparable sales, financial services, or lending role – OR
  • High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 8 years’ experience in a comparable sales, financial services, or lending role
