Position SummaryThe primary objective of the Principal Database Engineer is to work with the DBA team and development, support, and maintenance of the corporate database environment. The ideal candidate has seven or more years of experience in high volume Database Administration and has a working knowledge of the Oracle RDBMS and MSSQL Server. The Principal Database Engineer builds and tests the deployment of quality database solutions that are consistent with project objectives, technology architecture standards, and departmental best practices. The Principal Database Engineer will implement database strategies and oversee the administration of enterprise-wide data architecture. The Principal Database Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the health and performance in the production of all corporate databases.Essential Job Functions: Work closely and communicates effectively with all other IT ManagementManage all aspects of database administration and the team’s interaction with installations, configuration, upgrades, patching, migration, capacity planning, performance tuning, backup, and recovery. Manage regular, proactive, required database maintenance activityEnforce adherence to IT Processes including SDLC, Change management, and other fundamental processes.Responsible for overseeing the deployment of approved changes to production. Driving the Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Preventative action follow-through, and participation in regular operations reviews. Work with Development on designing standardized data models, and standard and optimal PL/SQL code.Actively participate and contribute to projects involving enterprise systems enhancements. Work with development project teams to design and implement database solutions to meet business requirements.Participate in project design and Oracle database design decisions. Refine and troubleshoot the design.Ensure that appropriate documentation about the database and the database architecture is maintained.Regular proactive capacity planning and tending reviews of all oracle databases. Producing weekly, and monthly management reports. Project Estimation process - including attending project kick-offs and design reviews as necessary to appropriately size new environments, recommend infrastructure solutions, and deliver associated cost and resource effort estimatesOversee the Development and implementation of Database security policies and procedures, in line with corporate objectivesPosition Requirements:Must have 5 years Oracle DBA working experience on Oracle 12c/19c/21c. Must be knowledgeable and experienced on the different versions of Oracle (12c, 19c, 21c) on multiple operating systems (UNIX, Linux and Exadata).Hands-on Experience with various Oracle database technologies such as RMAN, Data Guard, Oracle Instance Architecture, Data Guard, RAC, Advanced Compression, Database Security, OEM Grid Control, Dynamic Views, AWR, Oracle Golden Gate and Oracle GDSExperience with Oracle Engineered systems (Exadata)Experienced with tools such as Toad, Spotlight, or other Monitoring tools.
