What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities Electrical Technician position at Cree Wolfspeed?
The ideal Industrial Facilities Electrical Technician will be able to perform a high degree of problem identification and troubleshooting assignments and participate effectively in a team environment.
6pm – 6am shifts available as well and pay an additional 15% differential and will work at our main campus in Marcy NY.

What you need for success:
- An associate’s degree, preferably in relevant technical field or equivalent civilian and/or military experience and training.
- 5-7 years of experience as an electrical technician performing electrical repairs, upgrades, preventative maintenance tasks, troubleshooting, installation on HVAC/R, mechanical devices, facility electrical infrastructure, drives, PLCs in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge and/or experience in the following skill areas:
- Ability to read electrical schematics
- troubleshooting/repairs
- preventative or predictive maintenance
- new and upgrade electrical construction
- interaction with customers
- time and/or project management
- computer literacy
- AC/DC motors
- AC/DC current 120VAC to 480V
- Familiar with medium voltage up to 34,500 VAC.
- Familiarity of performing calibrations and validations of process instrumentation and sensors.
- familiar with variable frequency drives (VFDs) and complex HVAC controls and PLC troubleshooting.
- Ability to organize work and meet deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to perform trade-related mathematical functions in various units of measure.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, standard operating procedures, sequence of operations and ISO/GMP related documentation.
- Knowledge of chillers, boilers, AHUs, cooling towers, compressors, wastewater systems, is a plus but not a requirement.
- Install, maintain and repair electrical control, wiring, and lighting systems.
- Read technical diagrams and blueprints.
- Perform general electrical maintenance.
- Inspect transformers and circuit breakers and other electrical components.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues using appropriate of testing devices.
- Repair and replace equipment, electrical wiring, or fixtures.
- Familiarity with the National Electrical Code, OSAH, NFPA110, state and local building regulations is a plus.
- Circuit breaker corrective maintenance.
- Good knowledge of heating and air conditioning systems.
- Good knowledge of various test equipment.

o Ability to work in an industrial/manufacturing environment that has HVAC units, pumps, motors, tanks, and other facilities related equipment.

o Ability to work with moving vehicles, ladders, and scaffolding.
o Ability to work at heights, and in confined spaces.
o Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
o Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
o Ability to work in repetitive motions and pressure involving fingers, hands, and wrists.
o The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing or walking over hard concrete surface.
o Exposure to recurring bending, crouching, stooping, kneeling, sitting, climbing, stretching, or similar activities.
o Ability to reach at high levels.
o Ability to read, write, speak and communicate in the English Language.
o Ability to frequently work more than 40 hours in a week.
o Proficient use of technology and computers and software to include Microsoft Office suite of products.
