The Senior Administrator for Community Engagement and Strategy for the Institute of Population Health, Office of the Provost, Creighton University is responsible for oversight of the Institute’s operations and serving as the key liaison between the Institute and the community. The Senior Administrator is passionate about improving the health of populations, reducing health disparities, and committed to collaborating with others to make a broad impact. Reporting to the Executive Director, the position is responsible for the overall management of operations of the Institute, and leading the oversight of efforts taking place at the interface between the university and the community. The Senior Administrator prioritizes trusted relationships with community leaders and stakeholders, community-based organizations (CBOs), health system partners, and local and regional partners. Additional responsibilities include evaluating operational needs, associated expenditure and revenue forecasting, and hiring and managing staff. This role requires extensive skills in organizing, planning, coordinating, communicating, and leading a portfolio of work in partnership with others. To lead this portfolio, the Senior Administration will be familiar with factors that influence health outcomes and health equity, and have extensive experience collaborating with CBOs and convening and establishing sustained partnerships with a wide-range of stakeholders.

  • Serve as a liaison between the Institute and the community, resulting in the establishment of trusted and collaborative relationships across sectors, with specific focus on CBOs, community leaders, policy leaders, funders, and health partners including but not limited to CHI Health and CyncHealth. Together with the Executive Director and team, develop and lead pilots, programs, and strategies across Creighton and the community to improve the health of populations. Leverage partnerships with health systems and CyncHealth to use data to identify health disparities and inform the development of plans to address them.
  • Develop a structure for collecting and reporting on community efforts, activities, and partnerships, establishing measures and assessing impact of Institute activities. Ensure effectiveness and alignment with Creighton community strategy and goals, and seek efficient and effective approaches for Creighton engagement in the community.
  • Lead engagement with IPH Advisory Board, relevant Creighton community advisory groups, and Creighton programs and teams leading community engagement and service learning efforts. As an ambassador for the IPH with an added focus on community strategy, this role will seek longitudinal engagements and partnerships with internal Creighton programs and teams to further our impact in improving health for all.
  • Provide operational and personnel management to the Institute, including budget oversight, developing and managing performance metrics for evaluating IPH team, supporting professional development of the team, and assisting with development and maintenance of IPH job descriptions and positions, including assistance with faculty recruitment.
  • Provide fiscal management of the IPH funds to ensure compliance with university, federal and granting agency policies and guidelines. Provide leadership in all matters related to contracting and contract management with outside partners, agencies, University departments, and grant subcontract awards.

Qualifications:

  • This position requires a Master’s level degree such as MPH, MBA, MPA or similar degrees with management, planning and organization skills.
  • 5-8 years of increasingly responsible experience preferably in a university health professional school, nonprofit, or community-based organization.
  • Experience with providing operational and strategic planning support and development.
  • Must have experience working with a diverse community and various stakeholders.
  • Expertise working with diverse populations experiencing racial/ethnic social economic and health disparities. 
  • Has a deep understanding of community needs and existing health disparities locally and nationally in order to partner in developing sustainable solutions.
