CAD Operator III

DIS-TRAN Steel is looking to add an experienced CAD Operator III to the team in Pineville, LA.  The CAD Operator III meets all of the requirements of the CAD Operator II, plus has a solid knowledge of the inner workings of AutoCAD. This individual has the ability to manipulate AutoCAD setvars, menus, line types, fonts, scripts, and plot styles. The CAD Operator III possesses AutoLisp and VBA programming skills to aid in the detailing of structural steel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Translates information from customers, engineers, and vendors into detailed drawings.
• Creates erection elevations, details, and bills of material for fabrication.
• Understands and applies Steel Standards as they relate to DIS-TRAN Steel’s fabrication standards.
• Ensures detail drawings are accurate for both customers’ view and the DIS-TRAN Plant for production.
• Creates and maintains digital files for the shop to fabricate (CNC, etc. ).
• Releases drawings to the shop in a timely manner.
• Completes work by projected date in a timely and consistent manner.
• Answers and corrects shop calls on errors / drawing detail issues.
• Maintains personal job schedule as related to project priorities.
• Reviews the detail drawings of other CAD Operators for completion and accuracy.
• Evaluates current processes to improve efficiency.
• Coordinates with Engineering Group to streamline processes for creation of fabrication drawings.
• Coordinates with shop personnel to eliminate repeat fabrication issues.
• Manipulates AutoCAD setvars, menus, line types, fonts, scripts, and plot styles.
• Programs via AutoLisp and VBA to aid in the detailing of structural steel.

REQUIREMENTS FOR CAD OPERATOR III: 

• High school diploma required; technical 2 year degree in AutoCAD preferred.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and excellent technical competency is required.
• Solid knowledge of the inner workings of AutoCAD is required.
• AutoLisp and VBA programming skills are required.
• A strong math background is required for this position.
• The ideal candidate shall be a team player, detail oriented, great at multi-tasking and time management.
• Regular, reliable attendance is required.
