Overview:
Crestron Electronics has an immediate opening for a qualified Manager, Supplier Quality Engineering. The internal focus of this role is Build to Print (BTP) and Off the Shelf (OTS) parts used in the manufacture of Creston product. Externally, this role is focused on developing strong relationships with a portfolio of suppliers in order to manage critical supplier quality issues and drive improved quality performance. Sound understanding of quality assurance principles and tools will be essential, as well as a general knowledge of electro-mechanical manufacturing and associated processes. There is a significant project management element to this role as you oversee the resolution of a variety of interesting and challenging issues. The successful candidate will be comfortable working with internal/external teams in order to drive appropriate actions to resolve issues and improve customer satisfaction. This position has several direct reports.
Responsibilities:
  • Directly manage a team of supplier Quality Engineers and the Material Quality Management Coordinators
  • Oversee the resolution of material quality issues by ensuring total containment, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions in an efficient and collaborative manner. The Manager, Supplier Quality Engineering must be able to appropriately drive actions, track the progress of action items, and resolve cases in a timely manner.
  • Evaluate supplier quality systems and manufacturing processes to qualify new suppliers proposed by the Supply Chain group.
  • Develop strong relationships with assigned suppliers, provide continual monitoring and reporting as to their quality performance, and perform periodic audits of their facilities, systems, and processes.
  • Participate on design review teams for new and revised product to ensure that the suppliers chosen for the job are capable to make the part as designed.
  • Support Corporate Quality Engineering in their first article process. Manager, Supplier Quality Engineering must have the ability to understand the design intent and application of the product in order to effectively communicate any future issues to the supplier.
  • Working with the Analytics team, understand and address any spikes or trends in field issues that where the cause is a Build to Print or Off the Shelf part.
  • Working with the Failure Analysis Team, review returned product to understand failure modes. Communicate the information to the supplier so that the supplier may take appropriate actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Manage Material Review Board meetings to review discrepant material. Manager, Supplier Quality Engineering will be responsible for understanding the discrepancy and how it impacts the overall design intent and work collaboratively with members of Crestron’s Production and Supply Chain teams to weigh the business and production demands to minimize the impact to our customers and to approve any disposition.
  • The Manager, Supplier Quality Engineering will work collaboratively with Engineering, Production Engineering, and Supply Chain to understand the design and production impacts in order to determine dispositions of nonconforming material.
  • The Manager, Supplier Quality Engineering will play an integral role in overall Corporate Quality efforts by leading improvement projects that will benefit the company as a whole.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering or related field or commensurate experience.
  • At least 8 years of experience in quality assurance in a manufacturing environment where Supplier Quality was part of the responsibilities.
  • At least 5 years of experience managing personnel
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20%.
  • Ability to understand complex manufacturing issues and drive suppliers towards resolution.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance processes, especially corrective action (8D) and root cause analysis.
  • The ability to manage projects and track multiple critical issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team leadership skills.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes for electro-mechanical devices including final assembly and test, SMT, printed circuit board assembly, extrusion, casting, metal stamping, injection molding, painting, coating, and plating.
