SUMMARY

 

This position is responsible for safely and efficiently operating rail equipment and off-loading rail cars containing Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) in accordance with federal, state and Company guidelines.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS  will include the following:

 

  • Work closely with Operations, Transportation, and Marketing groups to carry out daily plans and goals to achieve the scheduled loads/unload objectives.
  • Verify tank car or truck load numbers to ensure car placement accuracy based on written or verbal instructions.
  • Assist locomotive operator with rail movements as needed.
  • Conduct tasks in accordance with facility SOPs to complete the loading/unloading of railcars and transport trailers.
  • Complete multiple forms and all paperwork/documentation related to rail/transport trailer activities.
  • Operate pumps, vaporizers, valves, and other unloading equipment as directed.
  • Monitor product movement to and from storage tanks, including coordinating activities with other departments to ensure constant and safe product flow.
  • Record operating data such as products and quantities pumped, gauge readings, and operating times manually or with computers.
  • Ensure conditions and weights of transport trailers meet federal, state, local and corporate standards prior to departure from the facility.
  • Monitor all equipment within the facility for mechanical integrity; perform basic maintenance such as pump lubrication, gasket replacement, and similar activities as instructed.
  • Attend and comply with all required training at the facility.
  • Responsible for the day to day safe and efficient operation of the facility while maintaining compliance with all federal, state, local and corporate standards.

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Meet all FR  requirements within 90 days of employment.
  • Must have valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to work 8-hour shifts consisting of 4am-12pm & 11am-7pm five (5) days per week alternating every other week, including weekends during peak season
  • Must be detail oriented, self-starter and able to work with little supervision while maintaining goals/tasks.
  • Should have good PC skills to include all MS Office  products.
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills and be able to effectively communicate with staff, management,  contractors and internal support groups.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  •  The employee frequently is required to walk, stoop, kneel, carry, push/pull and use repetitive wrist and hand movements.  Good hearing and vision, and the ability of rapid physical and mental coordination.
  •  Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, climb stairs and ladders, kneel, stoop, sit and walk extensively
  • This position will primarily work outside in all weather conditions, sometimes in precarious places.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment, such as flame retardant clothing, eye protection, ear protection, steel-toed boots, hard hat, etc.
  • May be called upon to work extended hours to cover shifts or provide support during non-routine activities.
