Position Overview
The primary responsibility of the Building Materials Driver is to drive a truck and to deliver products to construction sites. This is in a variety of settings and conditions including commercial, industrial and residential settings. You will be required to operate on uneven ground, complete the delivery and effectively interact with customers. In addition you will be responsible for the general upkeep of the facility, operator maintenance of your truck, fueling of vehicle/equipment and assist with other duties as needed. Fosters teamwork, positive work environment and overall safety of yourself and others.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

Ensure Health & Safety standards are met by complying with legislation, company policies and promoting a safe work environment
- Ability to safely drive a building materials truck to sites as directed, obeying all applicable laws and following dispatch instructions.
- Properly perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of equipment to ensure safe operational order and report maintenance issues (Operator Level Maintenance).
- Ensure the quality and accuracy of product being loaded and delivered.
- Able to climb in and out of equipment safely using proper 3-points of contact and working at heights.
- Complete written report of any issues or necessary repairs and forwards them to maintenance team. Detect and report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials and unusual conditions.
- Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
- Based on company needs the employee may be required to certify and operate other equipment such as forklift, loader and others.
- Properly follows & promotes all company policies and OSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment.
- Must be able to maintain an acceptable attendance record in a flexible work schedule.
- Must maintain at all times a strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures.
- May perform other related duties as required or directed.
- Must be available to travel and work from other company facilities as needed.
- Must possess a professional attitude while interacting with peers, contractors and general public.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty to Preferred Materials Inc. guidelines.
Education/Experience
- Two years of commercial vehicle driving experience preferred.
Work Requirements
- Must possess a valid and current Florida Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License or equivalent.
- Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, criminal background check and driving record review.
- Must be willing to work flexible schedule including: nights, weekends and holidays when necessary.
- Must be legally authorized to work in The United States.
- Must be able to drive a manual & automatic transmission.
- Must demonstrate a strong commitment to safety.
- Regular and timely attendance is required.
- Regularly climb up and down into or out of the cab of the vehicle, and climb up and down the rear ladder or rear access point of the vehicle during loading, unloading and/or vehicle wash down.
- Stand for long periods of time performing loading and offloading of materials in hot weather or current conditions.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.

Physical Requirements
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be conducted by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Climbing up onto and down off of trucks, forklifts, stairs or other fixed or mobile equipment on a regular basis. Requires the use of all hand and foot holds to mount and dismount. Must be able to climb without limitation or restriction.
- Operation of directional, speed, and operational controls on all trucks and equipment operated.
