Position Overview
Partner with Company EH&S Department to establish, develop and maintain records, files, and documentation as described by the V.P. EH&S for Preferred Materials Region. Provide technical and compliance expertise to the field of DOT Qualification, Training Records, and Follow-Up. Work closely with other safety and supervisory personnel to achieve goals and support the safety of each of the company’s business units.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
- Support and understand company’s safety standards and discipline guidelines.
- Track training/education from the field for compliance with all safety related matters.
- Work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization; develop strong working relationships with EHS Team/HR.
- Assist Company Safety Manager’s with insurance company loss control/safety consulting services to support and improve safety processes.
- Manage and maintain DOT Qualification files.
- Create clear and concise reports using Microsoft based products and other company computer programs.
- Lead by example in terms of all safety standards at all times.
- Carry out all assigned tasks and projects in a timely manner.
- Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Bachelor’s degree in an occupational safety-related field is highly preferred or an equivalent combination of formal education and work experience in a safety management or supervisory role.
- Three or more years of increasing responsibilities in a safety department supporting a multi-site organization or equivalent or relevant job experience.
- Possess working knowledge of DOT compliance.
Work Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
- Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as per company policy.
- Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
- Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
- Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
- Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
- Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA. Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, for this position is: Face Shield, Safety (hard toe) Shoes, and Safety Vest.
- Compliance with all OSHA and/or MSHA regulations.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
- Advanced knowledge of computer use and associated computer programs (Microsoft Office suite).
- Proficiency in DOT and MSHA regulations.
- Broad knowledge of workers’ compensation regulations and best practices or ability to learn.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to develop and foster relationships and trust at all levels of the organization.
- Strong self-motivation skills.
