Position Overview

The Senior Mine Engineer is responsible for supporting the quarry operations in both Aggregates and Industrial Minerals by utilizing his/her engineering knowledge and experience for mine planning and development. This position is an essential function to the ongoing viability of the Company’s operations. The position will work under the direction and guidance of the General Manager, Industrial Minerals, but will need to be self-motivated.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

(Essential Duties and Functions)

• Support the Company’s Mining Operations
  • Develop and implement short and long range surface and underground mine plans
  • Be profient in and utilize Carlson Software to prepare detailed maps, cross sections or other drawings such as geologic, topographic, etc.
  • Provide engineering support for projects as assigned
  • Provide engineering and technical support to other Pennsy Mine Engineers.
  • Work closely with mining staff to conduct and monitor mining
  • Assist in capacity balancing exercises
  • Identfiy and implement cost saving measures
  • Maintain accurate records and maps
  • Responsbile for all reserve reporting across Pennsy Supply.
  • Assist in inventory process
  • Provide surveying for surface and underground operations
  • Assist with drone flying and obtain applicable license
  • Maintains competency in current technologies and methods of operations
• Assist in long term sustainability and strategic projects in a support role and engineering capacity
• Support all company personnel and safety policies
• Regular and timely attendance is required.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Education/Experience

Required

• BS in Mining Engineering or related field required.
• Minimum 6 years’ industrial, aggregate, or mining industry experience.
• Valid driver’s license
• Experience in CAD, Carlson required.

 

Preferred

• Experience in mine planning, geology
• Proven leader possessing strong people skills
• Detail oriented
• Experience with Gantt charts and/or scheduling software (Microsoft Project, P3, etc.)
• Experience with Aggflow or other process related software

 

Work Requirements

• Work a temporary, alternative schedule as needed
• Ability to travel to various job sites several times a week
• Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
• Work overtime and be available for emergency overtime when the need arises. This may include occasional weekend hours

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

• Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and internet based applications
• Proficiency in AutoCad
• High proficiency in distilling complex information down into simple, easy to understand, executive summaries
• High proficiency and comfort in verbal communication to senior leadership
• Ability to read and interpret engineered drawings and reports
• Ability to read, analyze, and apply federal, state, and local statutes.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the legal and regulatory community.
• Ability to write reports and respond to inquiries from parties within the internal and external environments.
• Works well independently and meet strict deadlines.
• Ability to self-prioritize, self-manage, and self-determine one’s own workload
• Manage a project team and direct priority and workload of said team
• Deals with ambiguity by collaborating with people of all backgrounds and disciplines in order to make the best possible decisions

This job will require both office work and field work.
